Screeton Named Grace College Baseball Coach

WINONA LAKE – The interim title is coming off. Cam Screeton has been named the next head baseball coach for Grace College. Screeton will be the 18th head coach in team history. He served as the interim coach during the 2017 season, leading the Lancers to 15 wins. Grace’s 15 wins were the third-most in the past 15 years.

Wawasee Selects Eshbach To Lead FB Program

The Wawasee athletic department named Eastside’s Mike Eshbach as the Warriors’ new football coach Tuesday. He replaces Josh Ekovich, who stepped down from the position last month. Taking over at Eastside (located in Butler) in 2008 Eshbach complied a 46-49 record, including a 22-10 overall record, 20-2 in the Northeast Corner Conference, with three conference titles in the last three seasons. Eastside won five sectional games in Eshbach’s tenure.

City OKs Alley Project Expenditures

After accepting the funding for the alley activation project, the Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety Monday approved the expenditure of some of those funds for paving and decorative inlays.

Phillip Wayne “Phil” Neff

Phillip Wayne “Phil” Neff, 77, passed away at 6:50 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2017,  in Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw. On Oct 23, 1939, in Warsaw, Phil was born to Marvin Edward and Lucy Louise Liggett Neff. He was a 1957 graduate of Claypool High School. Phil enlisted in the United States Navy March 24, 1958. FTG2 Phillip Wayne Neff was honorably discharged Jan 5, 1963. Upon his return from the service and on April 14, 1963, in Silver Lake, he took Erma L. Salyer as his bride.

Bragg Named New Lady Wildcats Hoops Coach

Dr. Rick Bragg was named the head girls basketball coach at Whitko High School last week, replacing the departed Brandon Bradley. Bragg began his teaching and coaching career at Columbia City under Hall of Fame coach Wayne Kreiger. While there, Bragg coached volleyball, junior varsity girls basketball, and girls track. From Columbia City, Bragg worked and coached at Cherokee County in metro Atlanta. While there, he coached volleyball, boys and girls basketball, baseball, and girls tennis. His 1996 girls basketball team won the Georgia 4A state championship and finished the year in the Top 10 in the USA Today national poll. His teams made six appearances in the state tourney in seven years.
