Fisher Pleads Guilty To Burglary, Theft

Jason Fisher, 24, of Millersburg, pleaded guilty Thursday afternoon in Kosciusko Circuit Court to one count each of burglary and theft. Fisher previously was charged with murder in connection with the death of Kathy Vroman of Milford. Vroman's death was connected by police to a December 2000 burglary at Rice Ford in Warsaw, from which more than $100,000 worth of vehicles were taken. Three other men, including the dead woman's husband, have already been sentenced for their roles in the burglary. The murder charge against Fisher was dismissed after he testified against his father, Ralph Fisher, in a trial earlier this year. Ralph Fisher was acquitted of murder in that case.Jason Fisher was in custody on the murder charge for nearly a year while awaiting trial before he implicated his father as the trigger man.

Fisher Sentenced For Theft, Burglary

A slight confrontation occurred among family members when Jason Fisher was sentenced this morning on charges of burglary and theft. Fisher, who was released from custody for murder after accusing his father in the death of Kathy Vroman, was sentenced by Kosciusko Circuit Court Judge Rex Reed to four years in prison for burglary and 1-1/2 years for theft. The terms were ordered served concurrently and Fisher will be given credit for time already spent in jail on the charges. Fisher, 24, of Millersburg, pleaded guilty in August to his role in a December 2000 burglary at Rice Ford, Warsaw, during which more than $100,000 worth of vehicles were taken. Police and court testimony in the case against Jason Fisher's father, Ralph Fisher of Shipshewana, indicated that the Jan.15, 2001, murder of Kathy Vroman of Milford was related to the vehicle thefts and that those thefts were part of a bigger car-theft ring.

Home Decorations Come Up Missing

The Grinch made five stops in the Warsaw area this weekend, stealing Christmas lights and decorations from recently decorated homes. Bruce and Regina Lackey, Pike Street, Warsaw, suffered a visit from vandals who were after their Christmas cheer. The Lackeys made it out a week ago to decorate their home. "I just don't understand how someone could come right up to our front window while we were in the house and steal our lights," said Regina Lackey. Bruce Lackey reported the theft of three strands of lights from his front porch to Warsaw police at 6:40 p.m.Sunday.Police told the Lackeys the theft was probably vandalism: The suspect cut the wires rather than unplugging them. He may have made off with the lights, but the thief did not steal their Christmas cheer. "We put the lights right back up for our little girls," Mrs.Lackey said.Lackey said she had many more strands of lights that she would have given away rather than feel unsafe in her home.
