The work will be in charge of Charles Pearson.The project is being backed by members of the Silver Lake Conservation Club. The pond will be used for the purpose of propagating fish common to the lakes of Indiana.

This year, he plans to take approximately 15 Manchester High School juniors and seniors from his physics class to Disney World in March. He has been a frequent visitor to Warsaw and Winona Lake.75 Years AgoWarsaw and Kosciusko County experienced a change of 25 degrees in temperature in the past 15 hours, according to the self-registering thermometer of the Winona Railroad Company. On Aug. 27 at 3 p.m., the thermometer registered 72 degrees and at 6 a.m., Aug. 28, the thermometer had dropped to 47 degrees, only 15 degrees above freezing. Farmers in the county are now fearful that the entire corn crop will be destroyed as the corn needs hot dry weather to cure.

SIDNEY — Sidney Town Council members heard updates from Sewer Department Head Tim Woodward at its meeting on Monday.

BZA OKs Parking Lots On Market Street

A petition for employee-only parking lots at 765 W.Market St., Warsaw, was approved at the city's Board of Zoning Appeals meeting Monday. Charlie Ker, the petitioner, requested building parking lots on four areas that are currently residential to make more parking for light industrial businesses. "This sounds like a very exciting opportunity to do something nice for the neighborhood," said city planner Jeff Noffsinger. However, residents on Market Street were not thrilled about the request. "Personally, we don't want light industrial or any industrial in our back yard," said Tracy Cutler of 787 W.Market St.She said she believes the parking lots would lower her property value. Other residents of West Market Street were concerned about the amount of traffic and noise.

Business Plans To Turn Atwood Tire Pile Into Railroad Ties

It's been a problem for years.What to do with a pile of 4.2 million tires in Atwood that could catch fire and cause an environmental calamity. Primix Corp., Warsaw, has a solution they've been working on in the developmental phase for the past four years. Their solution? The tires will be recycled into engineered composite railroad ties.The ties and the process are patented. The ties have a 1-inch thick outer shell, made of the crumb rubber of the old tires, that surrounds steel and concrete.The rubber acts as a shock absorber. "We have ties in service (now).We have ties that have been in service in Goshen for three years," said Primix Corp.President and CEO Mark Shea. He said Primix is committed to using the tires in the Atwood pile for their end-product development. "We're an end user.We're not a tire recycling company.We plan on using the crumb rubber," he said.

Planners OK Prelim Plat, Table Final

While the City of Warsaw Plan Commission granted DeWayne Busz approval for his preliminary plat at 658 S. Buffalo St., the board tabled his request for a final plat until its next meeting so a legal description for an easement can be found or created.

EPA Grant Will Facilitate Environmental Assessment Along Argonne Road

Thanks to an Environmental Protection Agency grant, the gateway on Argonne Road between the city of Warsaw and town of Winona Lake will get a long-overdue environmental assessment.
