Need child care and don't know where to go to find the right place or what child care center offers what programs or facilities? Combined Community Services is now offering help to Kosciusko County residents in finding the right facility through their Child Care Resource and Referral program.And it's as simple as making a phone call. "We'll give (parents) referral to what they're looking for and we'll come as close as we can," said Pam Houser, quality child care coordinator for CCS. The first step for a parent to take is to pick up the phone and call Houser at 269-6194 or call CCS direct at 269-6019.The statewide toll-free referral number is 888-463-5473.

Newcomers Ready To Step Up For Lancers

Grace’s men’s soccer team celebrated its 50th year in style last season, enjoying a 14-7-3 record and a trip to NCCAA Nationals. But head coach Matt Hotchkin maintains that the success of 2015 was both a reward and a curse. The Lancers may have surprised a lot of people last year—“even ourselves,” as Hotchkin noted. So playing with a target on their back will be a new challenge for Grace in 2016.

Biomet Announces Strong Sales, Stock Split

For the first time in Biomet Inc.'s 24-year history, the company has reported exceeding $1 billion in gross sales. According to their annual results for the year ending May 31, net sales totaled $1,030,663,000.Net sales for 2000 were $923,551,000. Biomet Inc.also announced today that its board of directors declared a cash dividend of $.135 per share, payable July 27 to shareholders of record at the close of business on July 20.The cash dividend is payable on the pre-split common shares. The company reported its board has declared a three-for-two stock split on its outstanding common shares, to be distributed approximately Aug.6 to shareholders of record as of July 30.The board's decision to approve the three-for-two stock split reflects its continued confidence in the company's operational and strategic direction and reinforced by Biomet's financial performance during fiscal year 2001.

43 Honored For 'Hearts Of Gold'

Forty-three people were recognized Wednesday at the Heart of Gold Awards reception for giving of themselves unselfishly to serve others beyond the call of duty. Each Heart of Gold nominee received a heart-shaped pin acknowledging their achievement.Monetary gifts will be awarded to charitable organizations in the names of those who receive Heart of Gold awards.Each recipient has the opportunity to direct a grant to the qualified charitable organization of his or her choice.Grants ranged from $60 to $1,000.A total of $7,000 was awarded. The awards are presented by the Kosciusko County Community Foundation in conjunction with the Kosciusko Leadership Academy.

Allebach says he can 'make a difference'

Craig J.Allebach, 1605 Fisher Ave., Warsaw, is a candidate for the mayor's office of Warsaw.He is challenging Ernie Wiggins, who has held the post since 1997. Allebach and his wife, Carol, a fourth-grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary School, have two children, C.J., 23, and Cara, 20.Allebach is the Winona Lake town coordinator.
