Two Southern men staying in the area for a drug addiction rehabilitation program were arrested Tuesday after one allegedly stole a vehicle because he was homesick.

Hard-Working Tigers Searching For Identity

Sitting in a pressbox following practice last week, fifth-year Warsaw boys basketball coach Doug Ogle said he doesn't know the identity of this year's team. "I don't know the identity of the team," said Ogle, whose Tigers finished last season with an 11-12 record but won the program's first sectional championship since 2000."I think people will appreciate this team because the players are going to work hard and give everything they have.The strength of this team is that they work hard." The Tigers open the 2006-2007 season Wednesday when they host Kosciusko County opponent Tippecanoe Valley, a program that has thrived since hiring veteran coach Bill Patrick, who owns a 145-35 record with three sectional championships in eight seasons with the Vikings.

3 Face Theft, Fraud Charges

Two people are in custody and a third is expected to surrender today in connection with a theft and fraud case investigated by city and state police. Melissa Lynn Hale, 18, of 2854 S.Country Club Road, Warsaw, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail Tuesday evening on a charge of theft.She turned herself in on the outstanding warrant filed after the November investigation for which she submitted to an interview and allegedly admitted her involvement.She is being held on $2,000 bond. Already jailed is Thomas Edward Lane, 24, of Warsaw, who was taken into custody Nov.13 because of an outstanding warrant from Michigan for a parole violation.He is being held as a fugitive from Michigan and also faces charges in this case. Jennifer Van Dyke, 20, of Warsaw, is expected to surrender today at the county jail.

2 Held In Theft Of Computer From Wal-Mart

Alleging that they picked up a computer system from layaway, two men reportedly fled Wal-Mart Supercenter Monday morning with the $1,248 item. However, after loading the system into the trunk of their car, Brian David Krull, 32, of Knox, and Jeff Glenn Patterson, 49, of South Bend, only got a few miles west on U.S.30 from the store before being apprehended by police. A Wal-Mart employee notified Warsaw police of the theft at 10:31 a.m.According to in-store surveillance video, one of the men reportedly placed the computer system in a cart inside the store.He then walked out past a greeter, who asked to see the receipt for the item.The man told the female employee that he just picked the item up from layaway and that he wasn't given a receipt.He then allegedly ran from the store, still pushing the cart.

Man Pleads Guilty To $12K Theft By Posing As Agent

The man responsible for fraudulently acquiring more than $12,000 in merchandise by pretending to be an agent for Brantley Gilbert pleaded guilty to two counts of theft Monday morning.

Two Men Held In Burglary, Theft

Two Warsaw men were arrested Thursday morning on charges of burglary after allegedly attempting to pawn stolen items so a third man could pay his electric bill.


Former Realtor Board Exec Given Three Years for Theft
