Man Can’t Stop God’s Plans

Man's attempts to stop God's plans are as effective as building a wall of sand on an ocean beach and thinking it will withstand a tsunami. Millions of people defied God by voting for Hillary Clinton. They still defy God by opposing President Trump and what he will be allowed to do.

Students Give To Community Through 'BLITZ' Program

BLITZ is a sudden or overwhelming attack. That's just what the Warsaw Community High School Student Council hopes to do.The council wants high school students to overwhelm the local community with hours of volunteer time at local organizations. BLITZ, or Bringing Light Into the Tiger Zone, is an attempt for the students of WCHS to donate time back to the community in gratitude for the generous support they give students year in and year out. Savannah Kimmerling, high school senior class secretary, said, "Teen-agers, and more importantly Warsaw High School, have gotten a bad reputation in the community. We just want to show that teen-agers aren't bad." "We're also giving back to the supporters of athletics, theater, etc.," senior class representative Jason Dugger said.

A Couple More Things That I Don't Get

Here's a couple more in a long series of things that bug me. Well, maybe they don't really bug me, they just don't seem to make a whole lot of sense. Claypool I see now where Warsaw Community School Corp.is thinking of re-opening Claypool Elementary School. That's "re-open" because they closed it at the end of the 2003-04 school year. When the school board closed it, it was reallyÊa contentious decision.Lots of people in Claypool thought it was a dumb idea. I wasn't too crazy about it myself. Here's what I wrote in August 2003, before the board voted to close elementaries Claypool, Atwood and Silver Lake. The reason was to save money. "...There really do seem to be some drawbacks to the current plan. "I think closing schools in Atwood, Silver Lake and Claypool will really hurt what is left of those towns. You can't hang a price tag on something like that.

Pierceton Debates Treatment Plant Improvements

PIERCETON - About 75 people attended a public hearing at the town council meeting Monday to hear of improvements to the wastewater treatment plant. Board president Jerry Kreger advised citizens the Indiana Department of Environmental Management has mandated a zero infiltration policy, meaning no untreated sewage is to enter Deeds Creek from the facility.Deeds Creek flows into Pike Lake. The council is aware a lot of stormwater enters the system. The current plant overflows within an hour of a heavy rain. The plan, estimated to cost between $1.2 million and $1.7 million, is to construct two huge holding tanks.Funds for construction will come from tax increment financing funds, county economic development income taxes, the sewer improvement fund and, possibly, a Community Focus Funding grant provided by the Indiana Department of Commerce for about $500,000.This funding still leaves the town about $300,000 short, and a bond issue will be sought.

Two Key Animal Welfare Members Resign

Animal Welfare League membership chairman Margaret Scott and president Linda Mullins withdrew their membership from AWL and resigned their positions Wednesday. Both resignations came on the heels of a request by the AWL board of directors for Mullins to resign. Mullins said Wednesday she did not want to comment on the issue. AWL took over the animal shelter Nov.1 from Kosciusko County. The league pays the county $1 a year to lease the shelter. The county, in return, pays AWL $30,000 a year for expenses and pays the salary of animal control officer Jerry Clase. County administrator Ron Robinson said he was not aware of any problems within the AWL.The county, he said, would take the shelter back only if, "they were under some violation of the lease" or if AWL disbanded.
