Vikings Run All Over Norsemen

WABASH - Tippecanoe Valley got the big win it had been hunting for all season, and a little bit of revenge as well. The Vikings made the trek to Northfield Saturday to finish the game that was postponed Friday night due to lightning and made short work of the hapless Norse, 52-7.The win improved Tippecanoe Valley's record to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the Three Rivers Conference, while Northfield fell to 1-3 overall and 0-3 in the TRC.

Syracuse Council Considers Town Workers' Salaries

SYRACUSE - Long presentations and discussion kept the Syracuse Town Council meeting for more than 4-1/2 hours Tuesday. McGrath Consulting LLC presented its compensation study for the Syracuse police and fire departments. McGrath Vice President Dr.Victoria McGrath said the basic questions for the town include police and fire department salary parity and how compensation dollars should be allocated annually. To answer those questions, she said, consultants met with the town council members, Turkey Creek township representatives, town manager Brian Redshaw, police chief Tom Perzanowski, fire department chief Mickey Scott and representatives of the town's employees.Information also was collected from ordinances of Syracuse and other towns.


Accident Victim's Condition Upgraded To 'Serious'

Charges are likely when police determine the identity of the driver of a vehicle involved in an accident in which an injured passenger was left behind. James Hale, 24, of Warsaw, suffered head and internal injuries in the Feb.25 accident on CR 500S, between CRs 400E and 500E.Hale was found unconscious in the back seat of the car and nobody else was in or around the vehicle.The car struck a pole. The accident, under investigation by the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, occurred around 4:30 a.m.Feb.25 and was discovered when a nearby resident called police to report a possible prowler.Police believe the "prowler" was one or two other occupants of the car leaving the scene of the accident. At first, police didn't know whether Hale or someone else in the car was the driver, but officials now believe that Hale was not driving the car when the accident occurred.
