DePuy Announces 'Realignment For Growth'

DePuy Orthopaedics today announced worldwide organizational changes to allow investment in growth areas and expansion into developing markets. The realignment is a result of a re-evaluation of DePuy's worldwide organization and will affect 30 local employees. DePuy employs 1,200 in Warsaw. According to Mindy Tinsley, group manager of communications in Warsaw, DePuy worldwide is seeing significant growth in breakthrough research and development, accelerated product development and clinical studies.Patient and surgeon education also will be key focus areas.DePuy is taking steps worldwide to ensure that resources are aligned to fund these growth areas.

Fort Wayne Man Arrested For Robbing Webster Bar

NORTH WEBSTER - North Webster police have apprehended the "polite" perpetrator responsible for burglarizing Stimmelator's Gentleman's Club Aug.12, when he returned to the club Thursday night. The man, Richard Allen Mitchell, 43, of Fort Wayne, was arrested at the bar after being identified by employees as the man who robbed the establishment at gunpoint nearly two weeks ago. Mitchell was sitting at the bar when he was recognized as the robber.An employee called the police at 10:01 p.m.and the North Webster Police Department, assisted by Syracuse Police Department and Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, entered the bar and saw the suspect. An officer approached Mitchell and asked him to step outside.After leaving the building, Mitchell fled on foot before being apprehended.As he ran, Mitchell fell and dropped a handgun, which was recovered by police and discovered to be stolen from an Allen County residence.

Area Lakes Receive Grants For Enhancement

A $40,000 Lakes and River Enhancement grant was approved for Chapman Lakes Conservation Club Inc.for an initial lakes and watershed diagnostic study for Chapman Lakes. The Indiana State Soil Conservation Board approved the grant for the sponsoring Chapman Lakes organization to undertake its first step in lake enhancement efforts.The conservation club must provide 10 percent of the study cost. The board also approved an engineering feasibility study grant for $60,300 for ongoing projects of the Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation and $15,000 to continue a watershed land treatment project under way at Pike Lake. The Chapman group scheduled a membership briefing for 9:30 a.m.Saturday in the clubhouse to update members on the grant and project.Matt Jarvis, regional watershed conservationist for Indiana Department of Environmental Management, will address the meeting.

Sammons Announces His Candidacy For County Sheriff

Kosciusko County DARE Officer Timothy L.Sammons, Warsaw, officially announced his intention to seek the office of sheriff of Kosciusko County. Sammons said his priority is to "step up the leadership and accountability within the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Office. "I would implement Automated Risk Management System to track Kosciusko County officers," he said.Officers would be tracked on activity within a continuous 12-month period, and data would be stored up to three years, he said. The system would track a broad array of activities, such as injured prisoners, vehicle pursuits, injuries to the officer, use of force, auto accidents, citizen complaints and officers named in lawsuits.
