Charges Filed Against Couple After Theft From Home

A Syracuse couple are facing theft charges after allegedly stealing items valued at more than $6,000 while staying at a friend’s home.

Fisher's Sentence Modified

Jason Fisher of Goshen was granted a modification of his prison term and will be allowed to serve the balance in the Elkhart County Work Release Program. Fisher, 24, was sentenced Oct.10 to four years in prison for burglary and 1-1/2 years for theft, with the terms ordered served concurrently.He was credited for time served while awaiting trial, and inmates in Indiana are given one day off their sentence for each day served on good behavior. Fisher pleaded guilty to his part in a December 2000 burglary at Rice Ford in Warsaw, where more than $100,000 in vehicles were reported stolen. Three other men were convicted of related crimes in connection with the auto thefts. The auto theft ring was linked by officials to the murder of Kathy Vroman of Milford, who was believed shot to death inside Country Car Co., a Milford used-car business owned by Fisher.

Juveniles Arrested After Auto Thefts

Three juveniles have been implicated in at least 16 cases of auto theft throughout Kosciusko County after the Warsaw Police Department responded to a call early Friday morning. Seven of the auto theft cases were filed in Warsaw and nine more cases were filed with the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department. WPD officers responded to a citizen's complaint regarding a break-in to a motor vehicle near Taylor Street, Warsaw, at 5 a.m.Friday.When officers arrived at the scene, the suspect's vehicle fled.After a short pursuit, the fleeing vehicle, which was later determined to be stolen, wrecked in a beanfield on CR 300N in Warsaw. Two suspects fled the wrecked vehicle on foot, but were later apprehended by police and the police K-9 unit.

Stolen 4-Wheelers Recovered

PIERCETON -ÊThe Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department is looking for information related to the recovery of a pair of all-terrain vehicles early this morning near Sellers Lake. Investigators with the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department found two stolen four-wheelers in a trailer this morning near Sellers Lake.The wheels of the vehicles were removed. A witness told police that Maximo P.Ybarra was seen riding one of the vehicles within the past two days. Ybarra, 24, of 3104 E.Wooster Road, Pierceton, was arrested this morning on a probation violation charge, but has not yet been charged with anything related to the thefts of the four-wheelers. Ybarra also is wanted on warrants for charges in Whitley County. Although the owners of the four-wheelers have been identified, officials are still looking for information related to the thefts.
