Franklin I. Sawmann, 76, of 250 Gilliam Drive, Warsaw, and Esther Naomi Pfleiderer, 74, of 115 N. Washington St., Warsaw, received plaques as the 24th recipients of the annual honors. 50 Years Ago January 23 1958 John Thompson, 27, office manager of the Nappanee Milling Co., was named outstanding young man of Nappanee at a recent meeting of the Jaycees. Olen Anglin, president of the organization, said Thompson had contributed many things to the community. He has been active in United Fund Work, chairman of the boys and girls committee of the Nappanee Kiwanis and past president of the Jaycees Association. 75 Years Ago January 23 1933 The Warsaw-Tippecanoe Ladies' Bridge Club was entertained by Mrs. E.W. Gresso at her home on East Main Street. There were two tables of bridge with first prize going to Mrs. A.T. Johnson, and second to Mrs. Homer Smith.
Maxine Eileen Morris Goddard Gall, 88, of Grace Village, Winona Lake, and formerly of Leesburg and Plymouth, died at 1:40 p.m. Jan. 20, 2008, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
