Whitko, Manchester Announce School Registration Details

SOUTH WHITLEY – Whitko and Manchester school systems have announced details for the beginning of the upcoming school year.WhitkoWhitko High School guidance counselors will be available to make class schedule changes Aug. 2 to 5 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.New students to the corporation, who should call 260-723-5146 for an appointment, should enroll during this time period. Students with last names beginning with A-M should meet with Mrs. Brodbeck for changes. Students with last names beginning with N-Z should meet with Mr. Rickerd for changes.Registration for sophomores, juniors and seniors will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 4 and noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 5. Students will receive their finalized class schedules and information packets. Powerschool Information (addresses, phone number, emergency contacts, etc.) will need to be updated at this time. Pre-registration will be available on-line for all students. Parents are encouraged to pre-register their children for the 2016-17 school year by going to the Whitko website and click on Back to School More Information then Register Now. There will be computers during registration times to help with this process if needed.There will be no back-to-school event for 10th through 12th grade. These students can pick their information packets up on the first day of school.Parent attendance is strong encouraged for ninth grade and new student orientation at 6 p.m. Aug. 8 in the high school auditorium. There will be a presentation with administrators and guidance director. Parents will be able to apply for lunch and textbook assistance, receive busing information, talk with the school nurse, pay for lunches and student textbooks.Parents are reminded that textbook rental is due at the time of registration; if this is not possible, payment arrangements are available.Parents of kindergarten and new first- through third-grade students also will have an opportunity to sign up for The Wabash Promise. For questions or additional information, contact the administration office at 260-982-7518.Registration times are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 2.Textbook fees are: $126.20, kindergarten; $145.57, first grade; $124.68, second grade; $111.46, third grade; $228.66, fourth grade; $209.40, fifth grade; and $210.25, sixth grade. Manchester Junior-Senior High School fees are dependent upon classes taken.Lunch prices at Manchester Elementary School and Intermediate School are $1.45 breakfast, $2.40 lunch and $0.45 snack or extra milk. At Manchester Junior-Senior High School, lunch prices are $1.55 breakfast, $2.50 lunch and $0.45 extra milk. For all buildings, reduced price breakfast is $0.30 and reduced price lunch is $0.40.The first day of school for students is Aug. 16.

Grace’s women’s soccer team got back to its winning ways on Tuesday, defeating Goshen 3-1 at Miller Athletic Complex.The Lady Lancers (11-1-2, 3-1-2 Crossroads League) had three different goal scorers in the win.Grace enjoyed a majority of possession and shot attempts in the match, outshooting the Maple Leafs (4-10-1, 0-5-1 CL) 27-5 overall.
