Congestion problems at Dubois Drive and U.S.30 may be eliminated if a proposal to make Dubois Drive a one-way street is approved. The issue was discussed Thursday. Mayor Ernie Wiggins and Street Superintendent Lacy Francis previously requested ideas to provide better traffic flow on Dubois Drive, Provident Drive, Park Avenue and U.S.30. Jeff Weaver, of U.S.Infrastructure, attended the meeting and supported the commission's idea of making the street one way west. "If we made Dubois Street one-way, then ambulances and other traffic could benefit from the access to and from U.S.30," Weaver said. He said there is currently two west-bound lanes and an east-bound lane with a left-turn lane by the BP gas station. Francis said making Dubois Drive one way would allow traffic on Park Avenue to flow freely and require traffic on U.S.30 to wait longer. That could keep drivers from running red lights.
