Triton Approves Changes To School Calendar

BOURBON - The Triton School Board approved school calendar changes that included removing Oct. 23 as a day off, and adding Jan. 4 as a no-school day.

1 Held, 2 Hurt In Pierceton Stab Incident

PIERCETON - A domestic dispute turned violent Tuesday afternoon in Pierceton, leaving one man injured and another man in jail.

Brian Winters, 76, died peacefully in his Warsaw home Monday, Aug. 21, 2017. He was born in Rochester. After living a number of years in the New York City area, Brian and his wife moved back to Indiana and made Warsaw their home.  He was a retiree of BASF Corp. (Flint Ink), of which he was a supervisor. He was a member of the Warsaw congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Helen, and his daughter Lori (spouse Marshall) Clevenger, Plymouth. Also surviving are one brother, John P. Winters (spouse Kristie), Wayne, Mich.; and two sisters, Penny Sherman and Susan Watson, both of Oklahoma. No memorial service will be held at this time. Grace Slips In Overtime At NCCAA Regionals

An overtime goal handed Grace’s women’s soccer team an early exit in the NCCAA Regional Tournament. The Lady Lancers lost 2-1 in overtime at Concordia in the semifinals of the regional tournament. Concordia advances to play at Indiana Wesleyan in the regional title game; the winner of that game receives an automatic bid to the NCCAA National Championships. Friday’s game in the regional tournament was scoreless through the first 53 minutes of action. Neither team found the back of the net in the first half despite 18 combined shots.

Car, Tractor Show Features Ford Vehicles

SILVER LAKE – Kerlin Motor Company & Kerlin Tractor are partnering for the inaugural Car & Tractor Show featuring nine decades of Ford automotive history beginning with models as far back as 1927. The event is from noon to 4 p.m. today. Kerlin Motor Company is one of the oldest family owned Ford dealerships in the nation and won more Ford customer service awards than any other dealer nationwide, according to a news release from the company. Family-owned businesses turning 90 are rarities in todays’ business landscape,  The entry fee is a non-perishable item for the Silver Lake food pantry. Registration for the car and tractor show is 8 a.m. to noon.  Judging will be from noon until 3 p.m.  An awards presentation begins promptly at 3:30 p.m. Awards will be given in grouped categories based on the number of participants. Lakeland Christian Soccer Falls To Blackhawk At Home

Coming off of a 9-0 win over the weekend, it was Lakeland Christian who was on the opposite end of a blowout Tuesday night, losing 4-0 to Blackhawk Christian. The Cougars are now 2-6 this fall.

Davidson Honored As NCCAA National Player Of The Year

After a year for the record books, Grace’s men’s basketball team picked up a number of individual national awards. Frankie Davidson highlighted Grace’s awards haul when he was named the NCCAA National Player of the Year. He was also honorable mention for NAIA All-American.
