City OKs Alley Project Expenditures

After accepting the funding for the alley activation project, the Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety Monday approved the expenditure of some of those funds for paving and decorative inlays.

Wawasee Wins No. 2

MIDDLEBURY - The Wawasee Warriors got back on the winning track when they defeated Northern Lakes Conference opponent Northridge 14-7 Friday in Middlebury. The Warriors jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter when Logan Lees ran 16 yards for the first Wawasee touchdown. Wawasee struck again in the second when Lees scored a 22-yard touchdown to put the Warriors up 14-0. Wawasee is now 2-1 and 1-0 in the NLC while Northridge falls to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the NLC.

NorthWood Rips Northridge

MIDDLEBURY - With a 33-6 win over Northern Lakes Conference rival Northridge, NorthWood moved its overall season record to 5-1 and 3-1 in the NLC.The loss sets the Raiders back to 0-6 and 0-4. Senior quarterback Charlie Roeder rushed for two touchdowns and passed for another to lead the Panther offensive attack.Roeder put NorthWood on the board in the second quarter with a 49-yard trot.In all, NorthWood scored 27 points in the second quarter of play. The Panther offense tallied 443 yards of total offense, while the defense allowed the Raiders a dismal 168 yards of total offense. NorthWood will be at Dowagiac (MI) on Friday.

Power Outage, Accident Interrupt Milford Town Council Meeting

MILFORD - By candlelight Monday, the Milford Town Council held its last regular council meeting of the year. A transformer blew out at the NIPSCO substation at the corner of Syracuse and North James streets, according to councilman Douglas Ruch, putting the entire town in complete darkness. The blackout occurred between 6 and 6:15 p.m.Right after the town council adjourned its meeting at 7:25 p.m., the lights came back on. At the start of the meeting, Ruch - also a volunteer fireman - was called out due to a serious semi-car collision at the intersection of Ind.6 and Ind.15, leaving the other two councilmen - John Lehman and Bob Phillips - to take care of business.
