Wawasee went 6-0 in the Northern Lakes Conference, but the Warriors were never ranked.Teams they beat, like NorthWood and Goshen, were ranked at one time or another. Not until the Warriors won the season-ending NLC tournament did they show up in the coaches poll, and then they jumped from no ranking to No.14. The Warriors then went out and proved they deserved the ranking. They won the East Noble Sectional. They won the Churubusco Regional. Then they had their biggest win of the year, winning at No.2 Bellmont 31-30 in the semistate. Before you knew it, this group from Wawasee had worked its way into Saturday's state finals at Center Grove. "One key tonight was our shooting throughout the game," Warsaw coach Al Rhodes said."That meant they were not able to play the zone defense they wanted to play." Another Late Collapse Leaves Warsaw Without Win

McIntyre Helps Trigger Triton Track Win

"Those (Kuhn's and Fox's throws) are both personal bests," said Valley coach Terry Screeton."That's usually a strong event for us but not overly strong. Those are pretty good throws for high school." Burkett's throw of just over 132 feet was good enough to give him a first-place finish in the discus too, but in the end it was Triton who had saved the best for last as its total team score of 60 took first place.Valley (4-3) came in a close second with 57 points, and Rochester was third with 50 points.
