10 Years Ago June 22 1994 SYRACUSE - Wawasee High School has been named an Indiana 2000 school and awarded $23,221 to prove it, principal Nyle Fox and French teacher Beth Hursh, co-chairman of the 2000 committee, announced to the Wawasee Community School Corp.Board.Wawasee High School was one of 25 in the state designated as an Indiana 2000 school. 25 Years Ago June 22 1979 Deanna Conley, 16, daughter of Mr.and Mrs.John H.Conley, 14 Fairlane Drive, Warsaw, will represent the Warsaw Lakeland Boat Club at the festival events for the summer including the North Webster Mermaid Festival Parade. She is a junior at Warsaw Community High School and her future plans are to continue her education at Ball State University.

During the first 1-1/2 years she worked for a former county treasurer, William Ellis, and for the past nine years with former Auditor Lawrence Butts and current Auditor Jean Northenor.

A red-faced Rita acknowledged the new cheer with a wave, then went back to work.

Through the use of a wrecking ball and bulldozer, the two-story brick house at Center and High streets was leveled Monday.The cost to move the structure - as well as possible risks to the house itself - were just too much to justify the move.
