Steven Brooks Bayne

Steven Brooks Bayne, 73, south Florida, passed away April 21, 2017, in a south Florida hospital. He battled cancer for 13 years. He leaves behind his life partner of 20 years, Laura Erdley. Steve was the only child of Martha and John Bayne, lifelong residents of Warsaw. He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1962, was discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1968 and graduated from Indiana University in 1974. Steve was a handsome free spirit with a kind and generous nature. His strength, intelligence, natural talent, wit and unassuming personality carried him through life. He loved the ocean. You could often see him sailing, running sprints or jogging on the beach. Steve had a passion for life and a laid-back sense of humor. He had presence. He was special.  It can truly be said, there will never be another Steve Bayne. He will be greatly missed.

Grace Baseball Ends Trip With Walkoff Winner

Grace’s spring break trip ended in style as the Lancers beat Miami-Hamilton 9-8 in extra innings on Saturday. The Lancers, who went 5-1 at historic Dodgertown this week, won in the 10th inning. Gavin Bussard had the game-winning moment, hitting a walkoff double to secure Grace’s win. The game started scoreless for the first two innings. Hunter Ackerman eventually plated in the third inning off a wild pitch to give Grace a 1-0 lead. In the top of the fourth, Xavier Harris gunned down a runner at home to maintain Grace’s 1-0 edge.

Editor, Times-Union: Not only is our own state leaders trying to destroy our unions, it seems the government is in on it, too. You need to go to the New York Times web page and find the opinion pages a article called “Crippling the Right to Organize”. As it stands now, come Jan.1 you will lose your right to be represented by a union and most companies will not voluntarily deal with unions nor will they be required to.

Lady Lancers Lose MCC Game At Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – Grace College's attack could not seem to get on track in a 56-45 loss to Mount Vernon Nazarene University's women's basketball team Saturday.The Lady Lancers (13-9; 5-5 MCC) were held to just 30 percent shooting from the field, including just 9 of 32 in the second half (28.1 percent).

Lady Spartan Softball Falls

Junior outfielder Mikayla Deisler rapped three hits in four at-bats, leading Manchester University’s offense Thursday.  Deisler delivered one of the squad’s five hits in a five-inning, game one 10-0 loss to visiting Taylor University. Continuing an afternoon and early evening when her batting average soared 100 points the junior came back in the nightcap to go two-for-two with a run scored as part of a close-knit 6-3 loss.
