- Election Election Editor, Times-Union: I am writing at this time to voice my observation regarding the upcoming elections, primarily concerning the race for sheriff of Kosciusko County.I personally feel every candidate running for sheriff would be a good choice for that honorable and notable position.Whoever is elected will have a tremendous chore in emulating the fine sheriff that currently serves in that position.I am a former resident of Kosciusko County, and recall only one other sheriff that served with such honor and above reproach, Sheriff Andrews.

- Open Judge's Eyes - Questions Judge Open Judge's Eyes Editor, Times-Union: I've lived with my biological dad all my life. Then a woman marries my dad and adopts me.We could hardly ever talk to our real mom anymore. Then this whole divorce situation happened between my dad and stepmom. My sister and I told Judge Reed (Rex Reed) that we wanted to live with our dad.He blew me and my sister off and is making us live with our stepmom. What now? If I live with my stepmom, I'll have no contact at all with my real mom.I'm only 14 and it's like someone is saying, "would you like an ulcer with all this pain." This should not be happening to someone as young as me.Someone should open up Judge Reed's eyes.

- Church And State - Deaths Of The Innocent - Innocent Until Guilty - Unwanted Animals - Candidate Background - Farm Article Church And State Editor, Times-Union: The Times-Union ran a story in the Feb.27 edition titled "Judge Rules VU Police Did Not Violate Separation of Church and State." In that story, the attorney for a VU student arrested by campus police for drunken driving argued: "A campus police force violated the constitutional separation of church and state." The judge in this case ruled: "Valparaiso University is not violating the constitutional principal of separation of church and state." I will now get to the point of this letter.

Today, I received a letter from The American Legion concerning our U.S.flag.I admit I, like most people, take too many things for granted.I also did not realize the problems concerning our flag. When I read the letter from the legion, it does upset me and makes me think back about things.

- Erosion Control Erosion Control Editor, Times-Union: We applaud the Kosciusko County Commissioners for taking a first step when they approved an amendment to the county's erosion control ordinance that was badly needed. This recent action is only part of the equation. Our county officials are tardy in fully realizing their responsibility for the land around our lakes. Our lakes, by statute, belong to the State of Indiana and its people. It is the state's responsibility to assure these recreational assets are available to all.It is, on the other hand, county government's responsibility to carefully manage land development around each lake to assure lake viability-local control, not state control.Managed land use development, or lack of it, falls on county officials.
