- Voters Guide - Victims' Rights - Drivers And Language Voters Guide Editor, Times-Union: As Kosciusko County Right to Life does every election year, a Voter Guide was prepared with candidate responses to questions regarding various pro-life issues.Candidates for the sheriff's race were included.ÊRocky Goshert sent in his response to the 13 questions.ÊHowever, he left the last question blank which meant that the Voter Guide listed "Did Not Respond" for that question.ÊThose who received the Voter Guide may have assumed that he was avoiding the question.ÊWhen Goshert received a copy of the Guide, he notified us that he had intended to complete the last question.

- MDA Donations - Vacuum Sign - Then And Now - Bible Scorn - Football Facilities MDA Donations Editor, Times-Union: After reading the letter in last night's Times-Union (regarding MDA), I was very disappointed in our community! All we could share with MDA was $2,446? How sad! My boyfriend and I pledge money every year for this cause. We are not rich in money, but feel very blessed in other areas of our lives.I cannot believe that every resident of Kosciusko could not give at least $1! Someday, one of your family members may be stricken with one of the MD diseases and I bet you will be first in line asking for help.

- Republican Disrespect - 'Rocky' For Sheriff - Supports Whitaker - Whitaker For Sheriff Republican Disrespect Editor, Times-Union: I am a Warsaw native and it appears to me that some of the elected and appointed leaders of the Republican Party have committed the most unthinkable and disrespectful act I have ever witnessed by party and elected officials.

- Weapons Ban - Gun Issues - Truth About War - Cultural Problems Weapons Ban Editor, Times-Union: Senator John Kerry recently criticized President Bush for letting the ban on assault weapons expire.Perhaps the junior senator from Massachusetts needs to check his job description, found in the U.S.Constitution. As a member of the legislative branch, it is his job to introduce, debate and pass new laws.As a member of the executive branch, it is President Bush's job to sign or veto bills presented to him by the legislative branch. Since a bill extending the assault weapons ban never reached the Oval Office, President Bush did not have the opportunity to "let" the ban expire.

- Gun Stories - No Dumping Gun Stories Editor, Times-Union: Saturday morning (Nov.8) Mr.Gerard had an excellent column dealing with the way the media handle gun stories.Wednesday evening we have another glaring example.Indianapolis Monday night two women were slightly wounded when some moron dropped a .32-caliber derringer out of his shirt pocket and the American Health Association is screaming its head off about more gun control. Now don't take me wrong.I'm not trying to minimize the incident; it could have been a whole lot worse. Why any idiot would be carrying such a weapon, let alone in his shirt pocket, is beyond me.But what really blows my mind is the organization's reaction to it.In order to make my point I will take you back a few months and use an example similar to Mr.Gerard's, only in the same town as the accident.

- Stolen Sign - Honesty - Trust Law - Act Of Kindness - Sign Of The Times - Stolen Sign Editor, Times-Union: Students at Warsaw Community High School have been pulling pranks for years and will keep doing it for years to come.Harmless pranks are one thing, but when theft, vandalism, trespassing and destruction of property become involved it is a different story. On Jan.18, between midnight and 6 a.m., our sign was stolen from B&J Auto Salvage. The sign was a custom-built 1969 Torino. The entire sides of this car were cut off and welded back together, resulting in a 3-foot-wide, full-length model of this car.The sign was stacked 12 feet off the ground.

- Immigration Failures - Sidney Watch - Happy Marriage Recipe - Donate Eyes - Memorial Parade Immigration Failures Editor, Times-Union: This entire immigration issue is the direct result and failure of our nation's political leadership from the top on down.Especially when one considers how our very own Congress and Senate cannot debate or agree on the simplest issue without arguing like children.

- Whitaker Top Choice - Supports Goshert - Gas Prices - Freedom Of Religion - Goshert For Sheriff - Elect Slone Whitaker Top Choice Editor, Times-Union: I have worked for three different sheriffs in my career with the department and those three have all come from within the ranks of the department. While I will not dispute the fact officers whom serve or have served with other law enforcement agencies are well-trained members of the law enforcement community, this does not mean they are qualified to be sheriff.

- Newspapers In Education Newspapers In Education Editor, Times-Union: In about one week, summer vacation will expire and those who are seismically sensitive will perceive subtle shifts in the local terrain as thousands of local youth flood back to school. Many students will have successfully eluded academics for the past several months, prompting teachers to prime pumps and recalibrate brains.Fortunately, some children will enter school having been primed and dusted.Warsaw Community Schools has just concluded another successful elementary Jump-Start summer school session. While concepts involving math, reading, writing and science are standard fare, children in fifth and sixth grades were treated to a unique "text" delivering academic foundations with a local, state, national and international twist.
