I guess that you feel that if "your candidate" is losing the election, you write a letter and accuse another candidate of having no integrity.

- Moral Restraint - Warsaw School Board - Pierceton Thanks Moral Restraint Editor, Times-Union: As I read and hear the news, I think we are trying to run the Space Age with antiquated moral and spiritual equipment.Technology has no morals.Technology without moral restraints will and has brought human degradation, messing up many lives and families. Only God can give you and me moral restraints and spiritual strength. He gave you and me life, and desires to give you and me newness of life which produces moral restraints and spiritual strength. As our parent who gave physical life to you and me, and who loves each of us, God awaits each of our decisions to call upon him."Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well."Matthew 6:33.

- Truth To Prevail - Juvenile - Grace Village - Solicitations - Mason's Health Care - Truth To Prevail Editor, Times-Union: Your column this morning was great! I think it addressed the core of this tragic situation which faces our country. Some of the same questions have been in my mind."But where are they finding these people that they poll?" I'd like to know that, too.If there is a phone number that anyone could call to state their opinion, perhaps you could print it in the paper.I'd call and I think lots of other folks in our community would also.

- Clinton Lies - Affairs Are Wrong - Clinton Scandals - Wants Owen's Back Clinton Lies Editor, Times-Union: If I only read, listened and viewed the national media, I would come to believe that Bill Clinton has made a few public and private mistakes to blight his record as an astute government leader through the years.Fortunately, I learned long ago that many things read, heard and seen require more substantive investigation in arriving at the truth.Bill Clinton's reign has cost us all a lot of money because of his refusal to tell the truth up front, for he knows the truth would have kept him from the position of power he holds today.

- Three Generations - Legislative Meeting - No Alito Three Generations Editor, Times-Union: We must have a short-sighted king in Indiana, dictating to the public a time synchronous with Central or Eastern zones - any large city is OK - and leasing our valuable assets to wealthy foreigners. You sure aren't told who wants a 75 year lease, or why.Seventy-five years is at least three generations long, so what will America be like then, if he has his way? Since when is it a good idea (like the closing of chain stores) to divest in a paying asset for a temporary gain? This is not a business that has replaceable CEOs, but a Union of States.

- Likes KCH - Parking Situation - Impeach Clinton - Angels - Youth Club Director Likes KCH Editor, Times-Union: I have heard several negative comments about service at Kosciusko Community Hospital and emergency room. The services I have received there have been very professional.I want everyone to know what a wonderful hospital we have right here in Warsaw. - Hurricane Aftermath - Parental Non-Involvement - Drunks - Wisdom Of Ages Hurricane Aftermath Editor, Times-Union: I wanted to share with the newspaper and folks in Warsaw the observations of Jennifer (Woodward) Gullette, former Warsaw resident and former Queen of the Lakes and Kosciusko Fair Queen, who now lives in Raleigh, N.C., and works for the North Carolina Insurance Commissioner's Office. - Stolen Money - Road Complaints - Love, Not Religion - Public Apology - Re: Mauk's Letter - Smith Rebutted - More Police Patrols Stolen Money Editor, Times-Union: On Jan.13, we cashed our Social Security check, paid bills, then kept an appointment at KCH Radiology at 2 p.m. My wife and 3-year-old grandson were to wait in the waiting room, so I foolishly put my remaining cash in the jacket I wore along with pocket items. Because a 3-year-old is active, there came a point where my jacket was sitting unwatched. During that brief period, someone took the cash only that was in a money clip.

- V-J Day - Necessary Bombing - Parade Marshal V-J Day Editor, Times-Union: On Saturday, Aug.14, we observed V-J Day, that momentous period in 1945 when Emperor Hirohito of Japan told his people that Japan lost the war, thus Japan surrendered, bringing to an end one of the greatest and most horrendous conflicts in the history of mankind, World War II.

Letters to the Editor 09-02-1998

- Leadership Leadership Editor, Times-Union: Lay that Bible down, Mr.President, unless you intend to try to obey the moral precepts and instructions therein.Presently you represent the sad sinful level of morality found in too many of our citizenry.A citizenry which does give you high marks in polls based on material values above character values. An ancient quote is presently very evident, "Material prosperity breeds spiritual poverty." Your leadership in our country takes me back in history to the Roman Empire. When leaders there gave evidence of character corruption, the populace followed, and the empire crumbled. It could happen here.

- Horse Shooting - Second Amendment - It Takes A Thief - Taxes Horse Shooting Editor, Times-Union: To Kim and Cindi Cox and family: I've heard people give the benefit of doubt before, but you have taken it to the extreme! You know, I know and everyone with half a brain knows your horse was not shot by accident.Your horse was not shot by a hunter, either.Your horse was shot by some moron who doesn't know how to hunt, got bored and decided he was going to shoot something. I'm not a horsey person but I have a very high regard for the beauty, grace and sheer power of the horse.I can imagine how traumatic this can be for people who truly love horses.

- Reese Column Is Bunk - Religion And Inhumanity - Burket Says Thanks - Special Mother Reese Column Is Bunk Editor, Times-Union: To put it plainly, Charley Reese's column on Darwin's theory (Times-Union/Oct.11) is bunk.Reese attempts to make a theological argument using scientific evidence that he claims disproves evolution. He cites only one astronomer and one biochemist and would have the public believe that the entire scientific community disputes the validity of evolutionary theory, which simply is not true.

- Shekinah - Girls, Boys State - Support Payments Shekinah Editor, Times-Union: Shekinah '99 was again a success in terms of the attendance, ministry and life-changing commitments that were made as a result of high energy music and challenging personal testimonies from the bands. Although fewer people attended than either of the previous two years, the 1,800 persons there brought encouragement to the groups appearing on stage and an open mindedness to hear the spiritual challenge and consider the direction of their lives.Over 35 persons dedicated their lives to Christ and follow-up in local churches is planned.

- Letter From Monica - Loving Care - Generous Community Letter From Monica Editor, Times-Union: I would like to share with you a letter to Heather Florey from her 6-month-old baby, Monica Hatfield. Dear Mom, I know you'll be very happy to know that I came home from the hospital with Grandma (Pam Hiers) and Aunt Michelle today. They have to be very careful holding me since my skull was crushed in the back and my kidney was damaged. My brain swelling has gone down, but they say I'm very fragile.I don't move my head very much since it hurts so bad.I just move my eyes to see things. My blindness is gone.It was only temporary.
