- Middle School Principal Responds - Recycling Thanks - Band Says Thanks Middle School Principal Responds Editor, Times Union: Per our conversation, I'd like to respond to the letter to the editor titled "A Few Rotten Apples" and published in the Times Union on Oct.1, 1997.The letter, written by a Noreen Courson, stated that restroom stall doors at Lakeview have been removed due to "concealed drugs and obscenities."It further states that I told "them" (the students?) that it would remain that way due to a few students that choose to break the rules.
- Blood Drive - Brick Wall - Volunteer - Proud? - Red Light Running - Thought-Provoking - God's Plan - Vandalism Victims - Proper Recycling Blood Drive Editor, Times-Union: I am delighted to announce that our Kosciusko County Chapter of the American Red Cross will host a blood drive during the month of June. The current supply across the nation is between two to three days for type O+ blood, and I want to encourage eligible donors to participate and donate blood in June.Up to three blood products can be manufactured from one unit of blood, so by donating blood you can help several individuals in need of a very specific blood product.

- Fahrenheit Veracity - Hypothetical - Conservative Christians - Trash Removal Fahrenheit Veracity Editor, Times-Union: I enjoy reading the letters to the editor.I think the public debate of issues is useful.I specifically have found the letters regarding Michael Moore's movie "Fahrenheit 9/11" interesting. I am trying to figure out whom to vote for in the next election.I want to vote for candidates who have high integrity, common sense, are fiscally responsible and who will vote or lead in the best interests of their constituents, their community and their nation regardless of special interests or political party interests.I encourage others to join me in trying to be conscientious, truth-seeking voters.
- Puppy Mills - Basketball Compromise Puppy Mills Editor, Times-Union: Today in school we found out that most puppies sold in pet stores come from puppy mills.Puppy mills only breed dogs to make money. They don't treat the dogs well. They don't feed them properly. They don't give them enough attention or medical care and they are not kept in clean cages. Instead of buying from pet stores, please go to your local animal shelter to get a pet.Millions of dogs are in animal shelters because they have no homes.Yet puppy mill owners keep producing about 400,000 puppies a year.
- Missing Monkey Editor, Times-Union: Missing Monkey Editor, Times-Union: Between the hours of 9 p.m.to 9 a.m.Sunday night to early Monday morning, someone or someones helped themselves to our VBS monkey at Bethel Baptist Church on Pierceton Road outside of Pierceton.I realize this is probably a senior prank or something to that effect, but the fun is over. Please be so kind as to return the monkey to Bethel.

- Intelligent Responses Editor, Times-Union: Intelligent Responses Editor, Times-Union: To begin with, I'd like to thank Sherri Parker, Joe Gamble, Lacey Shewman and Brittany Kusserow for their kind and intelligent responses in regards to my question about the class motto of the senior graduating class of Tippecanoe Valley High School.Whether I agree or not with their interpretations isn't what's most important to me.The fact that they respected me enough to discuss maturely their differing views brightens my day. It seems that society today believes in only "black or white" issues. We live in a day when either you "agree with me or you're wrong" attitudes are the norm.Thank you for softening that feeling.
- Property Rights - Take A Stand Property Rights Editor, Times-Union: The Supreme Court ruled June 23 that local governments have broad power to confiscate private property in the name of "economic development." They handed down a 5-4 ruling against a group of homeowners in New London, Conn., who claimed the city is trying to illegally force them to sell their property. The city wants to make way for a hotel, an office building and other privately funded facilities.
- Defends Beer & Jessops - Community Reaches Out - REAL Services Defends Beer & Jessops Editor, Times-Union: I want to first off say that I am proud of Pierceton, Pierceton has always been "my town," I have lived here all my life and like most small towns, you know just about everyone in them, and everyone it seems is either family or friends, and that is only one of the many things that I really like about living in Pierceton, I could go on and on about all I like.

- Dog Ordinance - Debate Challenge - Responds To Wallace - Prosecutor's Race - Kolbe Responds Dog Ordinance Editor, Times-Union: There comes a time when you just have to speak up.Mr.Ott, you wrote a lot of untruths and you twisted the facts about my husband's desire for peace and quiet and the same for all county residents that can't speak up for reasons of their own.
- Life Chain - Pierceton School - License Plates - Health Fair Thanks Life Chain Editor, Times Union: Kosciusko County Right to Life would like to express appreciation to each of the 306 individuals who participated in the Life Chain on Oct.5. Those of us who are pro life do not enjoy opposing abortion. It is draining, time consuming and at times discouraging; it subjects us to frequent criticism. Our lives would be easier, much more pleasant, if we could pretend that babies aren't dying. But we cannot.Much as we wish it were otherwise, abortion kills children.
- Responding - Wants Mo-ped Back - God Not A Politician - Chapman Fireworks - Smoking At Little League Responding Editor, Times-Union: To Ann Sweet: Thanks, Ann.I think you answered most concerns.I still have doubts about the technology but then I'm still trying to adjust to double action. Tell Heidi I said hello. To Bill Hartman: I would have to check with my old friend Matt, but I think we would say my question was theoretical.I don't really need to worry about it.My kids are all grown and have their own cars.
- Don't Kill The Deer - Veteran Plates - Urban Sprawl - Downtown Looks Great - Economic Development - Witness Needed - Stolen Scooter - Goose Problem Don't Kill The Deer Editor, Times-Union: I am writing in regards to the newspaper articles about the "deer hunt" they may be having in Warsaw.I am 11 years old and someday would like to become a animal cruelty investigator. These articles have really been bothering me and I would like to voice my opinion.
- Bugged By Sick Dog - BZA Comment Criticized - Ferguson Remembered - Akron School Thanks - Pitzer Remembered Editor, Times-Union: Speaking of being bugged about something, the April 22 edition titled "Sick Dog" bothers me. First, the lady stated that she or her friend could not detect any signs of sores - then how could the shelter? Second, they did not know the dog had problems and I'm sure (Kay) Amsden and her staff would never have let the dog out if they knew. Third, you stated your friend had to put the dog to sleep and she then informed the shelter of it.Wrong ...Ms.Amsden herself put the animal down ...not a vet.
