- Invest In Life - School Obituary - Removing God - Price Of Fuel Invest In Life Editor, Times-Union: You know ...I start a lot of my sentences this way ...I think from pure frustration more than anything. I just read where women in California are still abandoning their children. What is so ironic is they have a surrender law there with no prosecution.Well, hello! Explain to me why people when given the options still opt to be non-committal to another human being? Do you think we will ever go back to a time when people took responsibility for their actions? Doubt it.If that sounds pessimistic I'm truly sorry. Let's take a gander view of why I think we will never return to those times. Kids no longer are told "no," it might hurt their psyche.

- Lewis Responds - Ritalin - Pierceton EMS - Winona Fourth - Animal Lover - Cemetery Lewis Responds Editor, Times-Union: I tell ya - these days one really needs a sense of humor.I suppose I don't mind being the source of some community entertainment lately, but I did want to clarify a few things in your recent "Potpourri" column and perhaps this may lead to more local levity.

- Clinton Witch Hunt - Experienced Candidates - Humane - Prosecutor's Race - Sheriff's Race - Thank You Reggie White - Shock In Jonesboro Clinton Witch Hunt Editor, Times-Union: I, for one, am sick of the Clinton "witch hunt."I am sick of the way they are exposing Bill Clinton as being the only president who sets a bad example for leaders of this country.I think it's lousy of certain individuals to look upon President Clinton as though he were some kind of sex-starved stud, who will bed down anybody at the slightest provocation, when so many of our former presidents in the past have engaged in just as many peccadillos as Clinton is alleged to have committed.

- Vegetarians - Politics - Artist Says Thanks - Fair Retreat - Prosecutor's Race - Animal Welfare - Seeing Both Sides Vegetarians Editor, Times-Union: Ms.Heather Michael, I, again, put pen to paper in contention with something you have written. As I recall, at no time did I attack your personal beliefs.I believe what I said was that your priorities needed adjustment. In my opinion a discussion on the inhumane treatment of livestock is frivolous when there are much greater problems facing our nation.

- Shopping Carts - Wawasee Development - Warsaw Schools - Red Cross Thanks Shopping Carts Editor, Times-Union: For some reason shoppers can't walk a few extra steps to put their shopping carts in the cart corrals provided in the parking lot and just leave them anyplace. How lazy and inconsiderate can people be? The police have a slogan, "Click it or ticket." Video stores have a slogan, "Be kind - rewind." So, how about a slogan for shoppers, "Be smart - bring in a cart.

- Downtown Alive In The 30's - Proud To Be An American Downtown Alive In The 30's Editor, Times-Union: In these times, whenever I walk the streets of downtown Warsaw on Saturday night, I become very depressed.Everything is so dead. All you see are empty store buildings and shadows; and you seldom ever see anybody ambling down the sidewalks. In this lazy generation, everybody rides.

- Michael Moore - MasterWorks - WCDC Says Thanks - Triton Superintendent - Veterans Series - Warsaw Schools Michael Moore Editor, Times-Union: Gary Gerard used his column Saturday to rail sharply against Michael Moore and his new movie "Fahrenheit 911."Nowhere in his column did Gary state that he had seen the movie or refute any of movie's points.I have seen the movie.I found it to be very thought-provoking.I think Gary should see it too. Gary railed against Michael Moore for expressing his point of view.Isn't that exactly what Gary is doing in his column also? Moore is exercising his First Amendment right. And so is Gary. And they are both making a living doing so.

- Resented Implications - Energy Camp Resented Implications Editor, Times-Union: Regarding David Sawesky's letter July 8: Let's start at the beginning.Mr.Sawesky writes "...but what you wrote you do not know him."I'm not sure if that was just a grammatical mistake, but I'm going to assume that what Mr.Sawesky meant was, well, I don't know.I guess he'll fill me in later with his point. As far as "waking a sleeping tiger," I would have to disagree.Considering Mr.Kitson has written extensively on the subject - one might ever go so far as to say he has a firearm fixation - at least since the mid-1990s, there's really no "waking" going on here.I could go with a "prodding the elephant" metaphor, but even that's stretching it.I digress.

- Leave It Eastern - White Sox Super - School Budget - Outstanding Citizen Leave It Eastern Editor, Times-Union: What a mess. What an issue that would separate friends and neighbors and divide the state county by county.I think that the only logical thing to do is to stop and realize that we were all in the Eastern time zone - except 10 counties - for nearly 40 years. The counties have prospered and progressed in the Eastern zone and the only right thing to do is leave everyone together that have been together and not let any county switch time zones. The Central counties would continue to function in the time zone that they have been used to and the rest of us would all remain together and be in the Eastern Zone.

- Dillinger - School Costs - Basketball Dillinger Editor, Times-Union: Don Kaiser's recent letter concerning John Dillinger's death on July 22, 1934, was certainly noteworthy to those of us here at the Old Jail Museum in Warsaw, inasmuch as we have a small but interesting display of Dillinger memorabilia in our second floor bull pen. There will also be some intriguing tales of this notorious outlaw in Dan Coplen's forthcoming "Kosciusko County, A Pictorial History" Volume II, which can be ordered here. We invite Mr.Kaiser and others curious to know more of the local Dillinger saga to visit us at the Old Jail Museum.
