- Preserve The Past - Barbee Sewer - War And Highways - Only Bad News - Band Fairness Preserve The Past Editor, Times-Union: I am a member of the newly formed Kosciusko Archaeological Society. We had a meeting with a fascinating guest lecturer at the library Monday night. The talk was interesting and very informative, and I enjoyed it very much. However, a matter of concern came up during the discussion afterwards, and it is one many people either don't understand or brush off as unimportant.

- Save The Cats I - Miracles - Save The Cats II - Save The Cats III - Feeding Tubes - Bush Foibles - Filbibuster Save The Cats I Editor, Times-Union: Have we become so cruel as to let animals starve? Well, the Health Department has become such. Please make people aware of the situation behind Long John Silvers Resturant. There are poor helpless cats and kittens there being fenced off so they cannot secure food by themselves. The management of Long John Silvers will be hearing from many people throughout the State of Indiana because every Humane society has been notified of this cruelty by the Health Department.

- Bush Still Evil - Kind Public Officials Bush Still Evil Editor, Times-Union: Please allow me to answer the responses to my "Bush Is Evil" of April 25.I did not base my information on anything that Michael Moore produced. I have never read or looked up anything on the Internet regarding the aforementioned letter. All of my views were based on news releases and a whole lot of reading.(Why, if there were 21 inaccuracies, wasn't Michael Moore sued or stopped?) One thing I didn't write before, is that in my years as an NCO on active duty, I was a member of an Aircraft Accident Investigation Team.If nothing else, you had better believe that plane was shot down.

- American Values - Good Old Days - Courageous Writer - The Rains Came American Values Editor, Times-Union: It's a phrase with meaning and value to us or we wouldn't use it so much! Yet how often do we ponder the deep meaning of the three words? Warsaw Mayor Jeff Plank spoke to our men's breakfast."Traditional American Values" was his challenging, unforgettable subject. "My wife and I thought we should try to pass on to our children the great life-enhancing American ideals we had received," he said. Having a problem naming these values, they asked their children to help list and discuss them around the dinner table. They listed about 12.The Planks wrestled with the challenging ideas.I hope the list affects you as it has me.

- Dimas' Sentence - Thanks For Help - Hit And Run - Planned Parenthood - Property Taxes - Chef Charlie's Thanks Dimas' Sentence Editor, Times-Union: What does it take to get a death sentence or at least a life sentence for a vicious criminal? If Christoval Dimas gets 25 to 45 years, he will be out on the street in as little as 12-1/2 years. He will kill again. When people like him are set free and strike again, I think the people who made it possible should be put on trial with him.

- The Front Porch - Loving Indiana - Military Retirees The Front Porch Editor, Times-Union: Summertime is nearly at hand and summer and warm weather always remind me of the front porch.Whenever I amble down the street, I notice that many houses lack a front porch.A front porch brings back many pleasant memories of yesteryear.A front porch used to be considered almost sacred, a place where you did a lot of sitting, and thinking, and where you entertained your friends.

- Prosecutor's Race - Weapons Ban Prosecutor's Race Editor, Times-Union: So many questions; still no answers. Michael J.Stork recently wrote a very nice letter about his friend, David Kolbe.Along with the obligatory repetition of numbers, he claimed his friend is "not a good politician."I disagree.Prosecutor Kolbe is the consummate pol.His ability to sidestep difficult questions and slant the truth rivals that of Bill Clinton.Manipulating the media, spewing statistics without proper contest, and using emotionally-laden issues to one's political advantage are behaviors Americans despise in D.C.officials.Yet it seems the incumbent Kosciusko County prosecutor can readily engage in these practices, while his supporters look the other way.

- Compassion - Downtown Warsaw - Political Ads - One Church Compassion Editor, Times-Union: Homosexuality? Slow down, Ms.Kurosky.I'm not suggesting you're a baby, but you can't be much beyond fractions.Even a baby has to drink from a sipee cup a long time before it can take a sip from a "Big Gulp" down at the Seven Eleven. You at least ought to have some sea legs.I had an intimate homosexual experience once but I just call it a friendship.I hate complex terminology. I lost my safety net.Imagine what you'd feel like if one day you got off the school bus and found yourself on Mars.

- Preaching - Red Light Running - Leadership Seminar Preaching Editor, Times-Union: Preacher converted by his own preaching? Well, not quite, but close. It really happened like this: The Rev.Robert Boggs attended the Billy Sunday Festival Friday at Winona Lake dressed as Billy Sunday, complete with his hair parted in the middle.Part of the program was for these B.Sunday "look-alikes" to do brief dramatic sermons at the Billy Sunday pulpit as Billy might have preached it long ago.

- Think About Others - Silver Lake Thanks - Walking Papers - Importance Of Voting - Class Hoops Think About Others Editor, Times-Union: Hello, my name is Rhonda and I am writing to you in a little town called Mentone and I have been searching for a job since the beginning of June and people say don't give up hope. But they don't know how it is not to have a job.I have gone all over the towns to find a job, any job, but they all tell me I'm not good enough for the job. What I think it has do with is I'm not a man and they would rather hire a man instead of a woman. This is a cruel and mean world that no one cares about anyone any more all they are really after is money and they don't care how they get it.
