Because to me, it just isn't right we all pay county taxes for the cars they drive.
- Church And State - Time Zones - Newspaper Good Church And State Editor, Times-Union: The ACLU is trying to make the United States a nation free from religion. Here in Indiana, the ICLU wants prayers that invoke the name of Jesus Christ to be banned. Two professing Roman Catholics, a Quaker and a former Methodist preacher join hand in hand with the ACLU claiming to be offended at hearing the name of Jesus Christ in government situations.Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that we as citizens of the United States have a right to not be offended. This frivolous case states that praying in the name of Jesus Christ is offensive to some and creates the situation of Indiana establishing a state religion.
- Jobs, Jobs, Jobs - Book About Cancer - Economic Development - Tiger Fans Applauded - No Safe Tan Jobs, Jobs, Jobs Editor, Times-Union: I feel the need to respond to the "News Views" column written by Gary Gerard in the Feb.21 and 22 edition of the Times-Union.As someone who works for a not-for-profit agency that assists people in finding employment, I see how "big" the news of unemployment really is - every day - not just in an election year.I am sure Mr.Gerard is correct in all of the statistics that he cites, and if the reality actually matched these figures, his flippancy about the unemployment rate and the number of people who are out of work would not be as irritating.

- Thanks To Biomet - School Capacity - Not A Choice - Emphasis Should Be On Learning - Appreciated No Previews At 'Passion' Thanks To Biomet Editor, Times-Union: A big thank-you to all the Biomet employees who shaved their heads along with my husband, Jason Slone, in support of his battle with cancer.Words cannot express the gratitude felt with such an overwhelming number of guys and one lady, who is a cancer survivor herself, who showed their support for him at this very difficult time.I am grateful that he is able to work at a place where friendship and compassion is a high priority and that he has such a wonderful support system on a daily basis.
- Be Pet Responsible Be Pet Responsible Editor, Times-Union: I am writing this letter to say what a shame it is to have people dumping cats and dogs all over the countryside. We have lived where we do for six months now and in that time a puppy and three small kittens have been basically placed on our front porch.People, just because you see children may live here or it might look like a good place to dump some poor baby animals, it doesn't mean it is a good spot.If you don't want an animal, then fix what is causing so many puppies and kittens being born.If you can't afford it, then you have no business having an animal.Do the responsible thing.Try finding a home for them. We can't keep these pets and it crushes my children. It breaks my heart to see them cry over these tiny babies.Take responsibility and do the right thing.

Pond Danger Editor, Times Union: On the south side of Warsaw there is a pretty red house - I believe a duplex, on the west side of Ind.15. They have a pond close to the road. Every time I go past, in my mind's eye, I can see a car out of control and landing in the pond. I don't know if it's a fish pond, swimming hole or decoration or how deep it is.
