- Puzzling Budget - Help Otis - Farm Runoff - Marriage Concerns - Lots Of Millers - Purpose Of The Military Is To Protect Our Way Of Life Puzzling Budget Editor, Times-Union: One of the first educational toys given to children is a jigsaw puzzle. The game teaches us how to assess each piece as to how it fits in the completed picture This is a skill we learn at a very young age, yet we use it frequently throughout our adult lives.
- Meter Reading - Presidential Disaster - Don't File Lawsuit - Treatment, Not Jail Time - Farm Bureau Meeting - Disagrees With Marcus - Dear Friend Meter Reading Editor, Times-Union: If you are one of a growing number of disgruntled NIPSCO customers, keep reading, if not, go on to another article because this is a personal observance of the practices of our one and only utility company. Remember back when the regulatory commission required NIPSCO to reimburse "we consumers" for being overcharged? Well, it seems as though they have found a way to recoup those charges they reimbursed.
- U.S.30 - Liberal Thought - Father's Day - Right To Dissent - AWL U.S.30 Editor, Times-Union: I really enjoy the opinions column, particularly on days when it's filled with a variety of hodgepodge. The subject of traffic deaths out on 30 is just about boring me to tears.People die in traffic accidents every day. An article on Thursday's front page caused me to ask myself a question. The article was titled "Warsaw Man Charged with Dealing Cocaine."The question is for the Kosciusko County Drug Task Force.Just how big of a bite out of crime would you be willing to take to rid Warsaw of this cocaine problem? To publicly humiliate the guy selling it by printing his name on the front page was a real good step one. This is my suggestion for step two.
- Witnesses Wanted - Freedom Witnesses Wanted Editor, Times Union: On Feb.14, 2002, I and my seven brothers and sisters lost someone very dear to us, our mother Ethel Jackson. At approximately 2:30 p.m.on that day, the car she was driving was struck broadside by a county highway truck at the intersection of Indiana Hwy.25 at CR 900W, one-fourth mile East of Mentone, and she was killed instantly.Although the police report states that there were no eyewitnesses to the incident, we all find it hard to believe that on a fairly busy highway at that time of day that no one but the driver of the highway truck saw this.
- Tax Give-Away - Accident Victim Recovering - Organ Donations - Firemen Tax Give-Away Editor, Times-Union: Open letter to Senator Lugar. Topic: The $300 and $600 give-away What the politicians did only shows us that the wealthy and big business got most of the money -Ê60 percent of the total give-away.The middle class got the 40 percent. This is like putting a single penny in a 55 gallon barrel and expecting this penny to help our economy.
- Enforcement Not Needed - Welcome Back, Rod Enforcement Not Needed Editor, Times-Union: Saturday I read your article printed in the May 31 edition on "Time to Enforce The Rules on U.S.30."I have to disagree with your idea of putting more cops out on 30 at taxpayers' expense. It's not just paying for more officers' paychecks, we also have to pay for more equipment - cars, uniforms, guns, etc.We also have to keep paying for them for many years.Although I might be able to pay for another tax increase, some others might not.
- Truth Or Fiction - Critical Of Police Work Truth Or Fiction Editor, Times-Union: My college philosophy professor told of a conversation between a movie director and a pastor. The pastor was bemoaning the lack of attendance at his church, and remarked, "Why is it that you are breaking records of attendance at your movies, and I have having such a small attendance?" The movie director replied, "I present fiction as though it were truth; You present truth as though it were fiction.
- Thank You, Wal-Mart - School Board Options - Alien Youth Concert - Not Supporting Brown Thank You, Wal-Mart Editor, Times-Union: Thank you, Wal-Mart, for the grand Grand-Opening! I was not close enough to the platform to hear what was being said. However, I did see many poster-size checks presented to various organizations.Giving back to the community for the years that the community supported them! I was able to move close to the platform to hear a wonderful performance by one of the employees. He sang "The Anchor Holds" by Ray Boltz. There were teary eyes in the crowd of cheers and applause. This was followed by prayer, then the ribbon-cutting.
- Leesburg Sewers Leesburg Sewers Editor, Times-Union: The ongoing discussion about sewers in Leesburg goes back several decades.Had our community decided to take the problem seriously when all the other little burgs in this county had their sewers systems put in, it could have been done at a minor fraction of today's cost. Some of the same people who have resisted the necessity of a sewer system then are still resisting it today.
- BMV Complaints - Parade Of Homes - Vandals Lack Respect - Donate Blood BMV Complaints Editor, Times-Union: Hello Neighbors! On 9/27/05, at 12:20 p.m., after finally finding a parking space within my walking distance, I arrived at our Warsaw branch of the Indiana BMV to acquire a plate for a vehicle I had just purchased.I left the building with plate in hand at 1:55 p.m., and considering the standing-room-only crowd, I felt very lucky.
- Moving Forward - Minors Buying Alcohol - Thanks To Firemen Moving Forward Editor, Times-Union: All of America has been sobered by the attacks on Sept.11.We found it hard to believe that what we were watching on TV that day was taking place in our country.Scenes like that have been seen for years, but they were in other countries, not ours. Our land that has known freedom from outside assault and invasion has now been violated by terrorists.

- Children Are Special - Just 'Gist' - Colonization Children Are Special Editor, Times-Union: Spring is here. After being on earth 92 years, I feel it is the prettiest time of the year.I think people often neglect to see, realize and appreciate what is really happening.Out of the dust of the earth seeds grow, leaves from the trees come out after the tree has been sleeping a time. All makes the earth resemble a paradise.
