- School Observations - Censorship - Candidate's Biography Inadvertently Omitted - Teacher Day - Supports Mayor - Mayor's Race School Observations Editor, Times-Union: It usually takes a snort from a flask or a pull from a reefer to get lightheaded, but around election time a number of people get this way with the thought of securing some political office. It just seems to start the sap running - make that plural. Alan Abelson, feature writer for Barron's Publications, says he is never sure whether these decisions are based on a desire to serve the public, or to be in the limelight, or in some cases an aversion to honest work.

- The War's Over - Mobile Meals - Polite Child - Thanks To Professionals - What Is A Family? The War's Over Editor, Times-Union: More people died from the last flu epidemic in 15 minutes than are ever going to die from SARS, but the media is portraying it like it's the bubonic plague. Everyone panics, and the first thing they grab is a face mask.I wonder, how many micro-organisms do people think those are going to repel? The media need to leave the spread of fear and insecurity to the terrorists. They're a lot better at it.

- Not Necessarily So - Help Our 'Otis' - Libertarian Meeting - Lost Dog, Happy Ending Not Necessarily So Editor, Times-Union: What the president, Congress and economists tell us about the economy reminds me of what George Gershwin wrote in one of his songs: "It ain't necessarily so."When one talks to the average citizen about the economy it is a different story than that which comes out of Washington, D.C.

- Repeating History - Great Program - Thanks To Volunteers - Birth Of Choice - Toy Sale Success Repeating History Editor, Times-Union: I feel I should speak out about some of the articles appearing in newspapers concerning Iraq and possible U.S.intervention. I grew up in the 1930s and witnessed some of the things that led up to World War II.Most nations shut their eyes to events leading up to this most destructive war in history. When Hitler reoccupied the Rhineland in 1938, the French army was considered the largest army in the world. The German generals were frightened by this and gave the orders for an immediate withdrawal if the French army made any movement eastward.
