- Grow Hemp - Church And State - Pops Concert - Christian Soldiers Grow Hemp Editor, Times-Union: This letter is prompted by an article in the Times-Union, July 6, page 8A, concerning the spraying of ditch weed. I am so tired of the stupidity, especially coming from the state police department, who should know that hemp and marijuana are not the same. They wasted $13 million of taxpayer money last year and are planning to do the same this year, spraying ditch weed.Ditch weed is what is left from when hemp was grown abundantly during World Wars I and II for the purpose of making rope, some of which can still be found hanging in old barns.
- Terrorists And Liberals - Are You Really Free? - Prescription Drug Costs Terrorists And Liberals Editor, Times-Union: The latest explosion in Baghdad made me realize how much the goals of the terrorists are the same as those of liberals in America. 1) They both want American troops to leave Iraq. The success of our troops in the nation makes both terrorists and liberals look wrong.
- Legislative Inaction - Over-Development Legislative Inaction Editor, Times-Union: I was very disappointed to see the State House come to a screeching halt in business last Monday and Tuesday.
- Traffic Rules - Dog Killed - Hand Street Viaduct - Paving Problems - Accidental Death Traffic Rules Editor, Times-Union: We winter in Florida and while there I read an article in the News Herald, the paper in Panama City, Fla.I cut it out as I thought it was interesting and true.I didn't think much more about it until my husband and I left Bob Evans last Tuesday evening. We stopped at the light at Center and U.S.30; when it turned green, we proceeded to cross U.S.30.Traffic had stopped both ways and we were almost in the center of the street when a car pulling a flat bed trailer proceeded around traffic and missed us by a very tiny margin. If my husband had not slammed on the brakes, we would have been history.

- Roving Chef - Lady Tiger Golf - Thomas Hall Concert - Have Pets Neutered - Taxpayers - Lose Mike Reagan - School Issues - Welcome Home - Blind Man Roving Chef Editor, Times-Union: It's that time of year when the Roving Chef is gearing up its hot meal program, starting the first Monday in November to the first of April. This year the truck will sit at Village Pantry by Marsh each Monday and Wednesday, and at Kmart each Friday.Serving time is from 10 a.m.to 1 p.m.or until people stop coming.
- Molesting - Rebate Molesting Editor, Times-Union: This is in response to Kerry Mills' letter published on March 17 about stereotyping gays with molestation. Kerry, a child molester can play any role within a community or a family.Regardless of their supposed sexual preference, straight or gay, a child molester is a sick, sick individual who needs serious help. Committing such a devastating act against an innocent child who knows only to trust his molester can be worse than committing any other crime against the child. This child will live with, and struggle with, the scars that this molester has permanently etched in his mind for the rest of his life. The child has lost confidence, trust and worst of all, his innocence.
- Libertarian Positions Libertarian Positions Editor, Times-Union: Attached to this letter is the Libertarian Party of Kosciusko County's official platform position on government involvement in formal education. It is also our response to the Warsaw Community School board's decision to close three elementary schools, spend money on overpriced building projects and put athletics as a top priority over academics, and the general nature of the near-monopoly that government schools have over formal education. Separation of School and State The LPKC supports the end of the near-monopoly government has on education with the introduction of freedom of choice in the area of education.
- Pregnant Teens - American Products - ABATE Says Thanks - Upset By Letter - Christianity - Who's A NIMBY Now? - School Prayer Pregnant Teens Editor, Times-Union: As I read Will Baker's letter regarding pregnant teens (Jan.5, 2001), I felt increasingly sad and, then, just plain mad at his lack of compassion and understanding. There are many reasons that teenage girls get pregnant but the main one is NOT so they can get attention from their friends. They get pregnant because they mistake hormones for love; because they lack enough self-respect to say no; because a boy convinces them that he loves them; or because they are young and sometimes irresponsible.
- Rights Violated - Bounty System Flawed - Silver Lake Cookbook - Abortion - Guard Deployed - No Sledding - Cardinal Center Volunteers Rights Violated Editor, Times-Union: By now everyone has either seen the video or heard the story of the family traveling in Tennessee on New Year's Day, where a man was handcuffed and put in back of a police car, his wife and child were handcuffed at the back of their station wagon and big Bulford comes running up with a shotgun beside the police car, Patton the dog jumps out of the car, wagging his tail, three seconds later, the dog's head is blown off. There is more to this story than you see or hear on the TV.
- Tight Squeeze - Courteous Drivers - Use Your Headlights - Angels Among Us - Well Wishers - Festival Of Trees - Adopt-A-Family - No Sledding Tight Squeeze Editor, Times-Union: One assumes certain risks when writing outside the box. Therefore I will submit this article as a hypothesis. Culling is an agricultural process whereby sick and diseased animals are exterminated in order to maintain a healthy herd, justifiable from an agricultural perspective.God forbid the necessity to implement such a program on the human herd. My hypothesis, however, is based on the assumption that such a necessity actually exists.
- GSA - Silver Lake Election - Cross Country - Miller For Governor - Thoughtful Stranger GSA Editor, Times-Union: Our community and high school have won a great addition.Unfortunately, we have been raised in a society raised to hate what we do not understand.GSA, the Gay Straight Alliance, is a harmless organization.A group of homosexual and heterosexual human beings trying to make the world a better place to live.
- Good Business - No Sledding - West Nile Victim Improving - Gift Of Giving Good Business Editor, Times-Union: Over 20 years ago, my wife and I had the opportunity to choose what community in northern Indiana we could locate our home and raise our family. We chose Warsaw because of the friendliness of those we encountered and that many of the people we met shared the same values about raising children and treating each other. It was not uncommon to see people on the street smile at each other and greet each other with genuine warmth. This setting has proved to serve us and our children well as the years have passed and we thank our Creator for our many dear friends and quality of life we have experienced here in Warsaw.
