- Con Artists - Bully Bill Con Artists Editor, Times-Union: I was intrigued by Gary Gerard's recent article about "Churches Being Hit By Apparent Con Artists" in a recent edition of the Times-Union.His article was right on the mark! Doesn't it seem strange that these con artists usually come to town seeking help on weekends knowing the the church will be vulnerable? The offices of The Salvation Army, other charities and local social services are usually closed. They realize their story will not be checked by those who are used to keeping records of people in genuine need of assistance. They also have a good idea of those who are intent on acting as "cons" who steal from others.
- Homosexuality - Sidney Says Thanks - Proud Of Slone - Veterans Day - Gay-Straight Alliance - Food-A-Thon Homosexuality Editor, Times-Union: There are a number of verses in the Bible about homosexuality. The term has been changed, and today our culture calls it being "gay."But it does not matter what anyone calls it.God calls it sin, and here is how God describes it.
- ID Tags - Politics Of Abortion - Questions Judge - Wake Up, America - Greenspan - Chuckle ID Tags Editor, Times-Union: When dealing with such a large number of students that attend WCHS it is nearly impossible to know or keep track of everyone, not to mention the comings and goings of delivery persons, visitors, etc.ID tags are quite commonplace in our world today - check the employees of our local hospital and some of the stores, what are they wearing? At some of the retirement homes, not only is their name on the door, but also their photo.
- WCDC Report WCDC Report Editor, Times-Union: As President of the Warsaw Community Development Corporation, I am writing to give a year in review report to the community.2004 was an exciting year for our organization highlighted by our cities ' celebration of it's Sesquicentennial. Many volunteers were involved in planning and assisting in the birthday party. The following businesses benefited from the City of Warsaw's Matching Grant program for facade improvements: Courthouse Coffee, WAWC, Bishop Books, Owens & Company, Bob List Photography, Readers World, Mosaique Restaurant and LRB, LLC. The assistance enabled many businesses to create a fresh clean appearance on the face of their buildings. We appreciate the City's cooperation with this program and look forward to working with additional building owners in this the third year of the program.
- Police Chases - Vanlaningham Scholarship - Senior ESP Police Chases Editor, Times-Union: After reading the article in Monday's paper about the police chase and subsequent crash, I thought it painfully ironic that it has been 10 years to the month that my son was killed in a similar police chase.Fortunately in Monday's accident, the unsuspecting residents only lost a house and the officer sustained only minor injuries. I am not condoning what the cyclist or my son did, fleeing police. But with all of the modern technology (computers, video cameras, etc.) that police departments have at their disposal, shouldn't they consider changing their chase procedures? I question if these chases are really necessary ...just food for thought.
- Population Propaganda - Spooktakular Success Population Propaganda Editor, Times-Union: At Manchester High School recently, a group of high school biology students were lectured by Werner Fornos, president of the Population Institute. The Population Institute is much more than a humanitarian organization concerned about social justice and the environment, as reported in the Times-Union article of Oct.13.Please don't be fooled by their rhetoric which can indeed sound very humanitarian. It is a powerful and pre-eminent lobbying group based in Washington, D.C., to promote a culture of death through worldwide population control.

- Where Is God? - Open-Minded - Stand Firm - International Education - School Clubs Where Is God? Editor, Times-Union: Where is God? "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind ...[and] considers everything they do.No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength....But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine" (Psalm 33:12-19, NIV).
- Chapman Lake Success - Wonderful Concert - Government Efficiency Chapman Lake Success Editor, Times-Union: Volunteer organizations have many members who participate only because it is their desire that the group succeed and continue on the right track toward whatever goal they have set together. Most seek and want no recognition for what they do.Their only desire is to contribute to a successful venture. This year, at Chapman Lake, there were an abundance of volunteers who stepped forward to assist us when the going got tough July 4th prior to the annual fireworks display, and, again, afterward when we needed to do some things we had not planned to do and for which we were not prepared.
- Stupid Politicians - Buy American - Homeless Shelter - Pushing For Peace - Trying To Work - Roving Chef Roving Again - Webster Channel - Hometown Holiday - Fun Walk - Sweeper Project Stupid Politicians Editor, Times-Union: During the Clinton reign "it is the economy, stupid" was what we often heard ...well, the word "stupid" still applies but it is the stupid politicians with their lobbyists beside them intent on filling their pockets with money, causing the misery now.

- Cosmetologists - Ice Fishermen - Road Conditions - Armstrong Road Cosmetologists Editor, Times-Union: Recently the Warsaw Cosmetology Association decided to spread a little holiday cheer. The WCA holds continuing education for re-licensure classes seven times a year. Our reduced price for members is quite a savings.Typically we hope to break even - we have to hire the certified educators. We are a not-for-profit organization who believes that the key to staying successful is in continuing education. The state of Indiana instituted a law in 1996 that requires practicing cosmetologists to obtain 16 hours of continuing education in each licensing period (four years).
