So I rode my motorcycle to work on Wednesday because it was such a nice day. Instead of heading home to Syracuse the usual way –  north on Ind. 15 to CR 900N, etc. – I decided to go through town and head east on U.S. 30 to check out Lake City Honda.

- Seeking Answers - Gas Prices - Seat Belt Effectiveness Seeking Answers Editor, Times-Union: I was nearly killed here in Warsaw when a van running a stop sign had crashed into the passenger side of my car. Hundreds of times since then, I had wished that my life had ended then. The "doctor" in the local hospital ER department did not diagnose the seriousness of my accident. My head had busted the driver side door window.I had a concussion and serious neck injury. The ER "doctor" said I could take my neck brace off after 24 hours.Doctor No.2 told me that I should have had my neck brace on for 30 days. Over five years later, I still have head and neck pains, as well as pains on my left side of my body from shoulder down to ankle.

Like my family, I am suffering tremendously - even surrounded by the knowledge that God has called them home together. In this time of great grief, I am compelled in some small way to reach out to the many friends and family who have supported us.Your thoughts, prayers, meals and physical presence are such grand gestures to us.I appreciate you all so much and all that you've done to allow my family to be able to concentrate on being with one another at this time.

- Dog Tag Clarification - Edgewood Thanks - Don't Criticize Dog Tag Clarification Editor, Times-Union: As a life member of the Howard County Vietnam Veterans' Organization, who just celebrated our 20th consecutive annual reunion, I would like to thank you for the coverage of the presentation of a long-lost dogtag to the son and daughter of Sgt.Dennis Fairchild.Wendy and Troy Fairchild were very touched. However, for whatever the reason, the story contained a few inaccuracies that really need to be corrected.Bob and Ann McMahon of Hancock, N.H., are the people who take Viet vets back to 'the nam' on healing and closure trips and was the one who was responsible for returning with over 1,100 American dogtags in late 2001.

- McVeigh - First 100 Days - Bad Movie McVeigh Editor, Times-Union: In response to Don Kaiser's letter on April 24, Timothy McVeigh has paid and suffered? I believe he will pay in a few weeks, but I do not believe he has suffered. He has sat in prison this whole time and still has no remorse. He called those children "collateral damage."I call them victims of a deranged man. This man thinks he has done a good deed and we should be thanking or admiring him.A man who is not human cannot suffer. He has no conscience.May he burn eternally.

- Purse Returned - YMCA Says Thanks - School Board Purse Returned Editor, Times-Union: Yesterday, Aug.21, I did a really dumb thing - I have done some other dumb stuff, but not too recently! I did a huge shopping at Wal-Mart, took my cart load and put it in the trunk of my car and drove home.I pulled in the garage, reached for my purse - not there! Oops! I left it in the parking lot at the shopping center - not good! I headed back to town, with my frozen food melting in the trunk, imagining the worst, but hoping for the best! My first fear was that I had flattened my bag as I drove away.My second, of course, was that I would never see it or any of the contents again.Well, neither of these things happened.

- School Savings? - City's Future School Savings? Editor, Times-Union: I read with interest Mr.Thorpe's findings of the so-called savings the Warsaw school system could realize by closing three schools. This is fine, but in order to close these schools it requires the construction of new buildings at an estimated cost of $3 million. How far would the so-called savings go toward the interest cost for financing these buildings? Also, the additional space realized by the new structures would take regular operating expenses. We need to get the projected figures for the proposed change in order to know whether to support this idea or not.
