Nichols served as the honorary coach for Notre Dame's "Blue" team - the offense - in the April 29 Blue and Gold intra-squad game. Dan Quayle are among dignitaries who will be on the Grace College campus May 28 for a recognition banquet to be held in honor of special donors.Mrs. Deborah Cooley, who recently donated $500,000 to retire the debt on the science building, will be among those honored.50 Years AgoMother's Day will be brighter for women at the county home because of the thoughtfulness of their Lambda Chi Omega "daughters," who gave them nine permanents and shampoos and sets earlier this week. Those participating include: Mrs. Robert Dock, Mrs. Max Baker, Mrs. Carl Weirick and Mrs. Wilson Lawshe. Mrs. Earl Michael, another Lambda Chi who is a licensed beauty operator, also assisted. David Sarnoff, president of Radio Corporation of America, told stockholders the company immediately would spend $1 million to erect a television transmitter, build receivers and conduct practical experiments in sending pictures over the ether. Engineers already have been sending television for many months, but their efforts were purely experimental. Television transmitters have only an effective range of 15 to 25 miles at the present.
