Lancers Open Season With Dramatic Win In OT

The 2016 season kicked off with a flair for Grace’s men’s soccer team. The Lancers came from behind to claim a 2-1 win in overtime on Saturday at Savannah College of Art and Design. Dominic Harris provided the game-winning strike in the final minute of the first overtime period

Wawasee Third In Own Invitational; Beaman Finishes Second

Landing a pair of players in the top three places, Wawasee finished third in its girls golf invitational tournament Saturday at South Shore Golf Club. Concord was the team champion at 376, with Northridge second at 397 and the Lady Warriors a shot back of the runner-up spot. Madison Beaman had an 89 to finish second overall, and senior classmate Aubrey Schmeltz was a shot back in a tie for third. Zoe White tied for 10th at 98, with  Jadison Rostochak shooting a 122 and  Valerie Haessig checking in at 133.

Ceremony Lauds Korean Veterans

Korea has been called a “forgotten war” since at least October 1951 when U.S. News & World Report gave it that moniker, according to Historynet.com. Kosciusko County veterans who served during the Korean War era will be spotlighted during a ceremony scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Sept. 2 near the war memorial on the county courthouse lawn.

Newcomers Ready To Step Up For Lancers

Grace’s men’s soccer team celebrated its 50th year in style last season, enjoying a 14-7-3 record and a trip to NCCAA Nationals. But head coach Matt Hotchkin maintains that the success of 2015 was both a reward and a curse. The Lancers may have surprised a lot of people last year—“even ourselves,” as Hotchkin noted. So playing with a target on their back will be a new challenge for Grace in 2016.
