MENTONE – Virginia Richardson, 92, of Tippecanoe, passed peacefully at 12:53 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2025, at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center of Warsaw.
Virginia was born on Feb. 11, 1933, in New Castle Township to Jerry and Edna Bradberry Scott. On May 4, 1952, she married Fred L. Richardson in Rochester, and they shared their lives together until his passing on Oct. 29, 2008.
Virginia dedicated many years to serving as head cook, first at Tippecanoe School and later at Triton High School, before enjoying her retirement. She was a devoted member of the Women’s Auxiliary of Tippecanoe and played an active role on the Election Board. Her passions included tending to her flower garden, mushroom hunting, fishing, camping, crocheting and playing euchre with friends. Among her cherished memories was a special trip to Minnesota. Virginia and Fred also found joy in traveling to various hit-and-miss engine shows and were members of the Fulton County Historical Society.
She is survived by her sons, Rick and wife Jana Richardson, of Tippecanoe; and Randy and wife Darlene Richardson, of Mentone; grandchildren, Crystal and husband Chuck Shafer and John and wife Joni Maahs; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Scott, of Elkhart.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; grandson, Robert Richardson; and sisters, Bonnie Scott and Betty Scott.
The funeral service will take place at 1 p.m Friday, May 23 at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Pastor Larrie Kreft officiating. Her interment will take place following the service in the Tippecanoe Cemetery, Tippecanoe, next to her husband. Visitation hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 23 at King Memorial Home, Mentone.
Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Tippecanoe Township Fire Department.
