Warsaw-based global medtech leader Zimmer Biomet celebrated its 98th anniversary this week with a Founders Day event that emphasized its legacy and ongoing commitment to giving back.
In acknowledgement of this important anniversary of the company’s founding, more than 3,000 Zimmer Biomet team members and retirees came together to mark the occasion with local leaders and their executive leadership team, including President and CEO Ivan Tornos, according to a news release from Zimmer Biomet.
“Founders Day is a meaningful occasion to honor the dedication and talent of our exceptional team members – not just for their contributions to Zimmer Biomet, but for their positive impact on the broader Kosciusko County community,” said Jim Lancaster, senior vice president, head of global product development and executive director global headquarters.
This year’s celebrations focused on the company’s legacy of giving, highlighting their sustained efforts to make an impact on the communities where they live and work. Warsaw team members were encouraged to “fill a plate while you fill yours” by bringing food donations to benefit Combined Community Services, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting families in need.
The food drive resulted in a substantial donation — in total, team members donated over 2.5 tons of food and other pantry necessities for Kosciusko County families facing food insecurity.
“Because of Zimmer Biomet’s generosity, their donation of 5,100 pounds of food to date will provide over 4,250 nourishing meals, helping feed and fuel around 47 children for an entire month,” said Kiira Churchill, executive director of Combined Community Services. “Their support is more than a donation — it’s hope, strength, and a brighter tomorrow for children in our community. Thank you to Zimmer Biomet for making such a powerful difference!"
As the company approaches its centennial, leaders say the values established by its founders remain central to its mission, according to the release.
“With nearly a century of innovation and excellence rooted in Warsaw, we take immense pride in our legacy. As we look to the future, we remain committed to fulfilling our Mission to alleviate pain and improve the quality of life for people around the world,” Lancaster said.
Zimmer Biomet will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2027.
