The team — Bronwyn Poch, Giusi Zheng, Audrie Winey, Finn Brander and Chloe Clemons — answered 23 out of 25 questions correctly and secured their second-place standing by edging out Crown Point High School on the final question in a tie-breaker round, according to a news release from Warsaw Community Schools.
This year’s competition theme was “Ireland,” and the team demonstrated their expertise across a wide range of advanced topics, including quaternions, graph theory, modular arithmetic and the life and works of four influential Irish mathematicians.
Coaches were Chuck Wiebe and Barb McCollom.
