May 13, 2025 at 5:42 p.m.

Carolyn Gray, 66, of Rochester, passed at 4:02 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Parkview Randallia Hospital of Fort Wayne.
Carolyn was born on Aug. 8, 1958, in Rochester, to the late James and Connie Jo Singpiel Ramsey. She was a 1976 graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School. On July 20, 1996, in Louisville, Ky., she married Gary W. Gray Sr., who preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 2022. Together, they shared a deep generosity, quietly paying off layaways at stores during Christmas time to ease the burdens of young families. They also found joy in road trips, traveling across the region and creating cherished memories along the way.
Carolyn spent many years working at Heckman Bindery in North Manchester before serving as a bailiff for the Superior Court of Rochester. She then dedicated 24 years to the city of Rochester as deputy clerk, where her commitment to public service left a lasting impact, retiring on April 9, 2025. A devoted member of the Fulton County Human Resource Board, she gave her time and energy to causes that strengthened her community.
With a heart for both people and animals, Carolyn was known for taking in strays, especially her beloved dogs Ralph and Max. She had a natural ability to connect with others and was a familiar face and a friendly presence throughout Rochester.
She is survived by her sisters, Ardella and husband Charlie Slavens, of Chalmers; and Katie Campbell, of Akron; brothers: Don and wife Beth Ramsey, of Rochester; Bill and wife Sherri Ramsey, of Akron; and Jim and Dawn Ramsey, of Bronson, Mich.; stepchildren: Heather Gomez, of North Manchester; Gary Gray Jr. and wife Nicole, of Canton, Ohio; and Candace Diaz, of Warsaw; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, James and Connie; husband, Gary; brother, Tom; infant brother, Raymond Ramsey; and sister, Connie Joann Rutherford.
Following her wishes, no services will be held at this time. A private interment will take place in the Akron Cemetery, Akron, alongside her husband.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron.
Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the National MS Society, P.O. Box 4527, New York, NY 10163; or the Fulton County Animal Adoption And Education Center 1540 N. Wentzel St., Rochester, IN 46975.
