Magical Meadows Hosting Picnic, Campout For Veterans, 1st Responders
May 6, 2025 at 6:45 p.m.
Veterans, first-responders and their families are invited to join The Magical Meadows for a day of fun, friends and healing in nature.
The nonprofit therapeutic horseback riding facility is hosting a family picnic from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 17. The event is called “Warriors Weekend” as part of the organization’s Warriors Mount Up program designed for veterans and first-responders, according to a news release provided by The Magical Meadows.
Free horseback riding, a bounce house, games and food will be available during the family picnic portion. After the family picnic concludes at 4 p.m., veterans and first-responders only are welcome to stay for an overnight campout at the new Warriors Mount Up campsite on the back corner of the 41-acre property. Those who plan to stay for the night should bring their own tent, camping equipment, food to cook over the fire and desired drinks.
“This is an opportunity for those who have served and/or continue to serve to get away from the stressors of their day-to-day lives and unwind in a peaceful and serene environment,” said Michael Kuhn, executive director at The Magical Meadows. “We’re so excited to see these men and women come together for some much-needed time of relaxation and camaraderie.”
This is the first overnight campout The Magical Meadows will host since building the campsite with the help of volunteers from the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce and Wildman. The organization plans to use the campsite for weekly programming offered to veterans and first-responders as well as future events like Warriors Weekend.
If anyone has questions, they can contact Michael Kuhn at 574-377-1946 or [email protected].
