Berta C. Gayheart

May 6, 2025 at 8:04 p.m.

Berta C. Gayheart, 78, peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Grace Village Retirement Community in Winona Lake.
Lifetime Warsaw resident, Berta was the middle child born to Donald Earl and Mary Ruth Wiggins Stiver. She graduated from Warsaw High School.
With a caretaker’s heart, Berta enjoyed working as a CNA at Grace Village Retirement Community, until her retirement. She made many friendships with the staff and clients.
A simple soul, Berta was private and kept a close relationship with her small group of friends. Having no children of her own, her nieces and nephews meant a lot to her and Berta’s heart grew bigger with her great-nieces and -nephews. She was continuously there for anyone in need and took care of many family members in their later years.
Berta is survived by her brothers, Donald Phillip (Sue) Stiver, of Warsaw; and Kevin (Susan) Stiver, of Goshen; beloved nieces: Jennifer (Sherlock) Harrison, Miranda (Aaron) Cantu, Keagon (Mike) Jacques and Celeana Stiver; as well as 18 great-nieces and -nephews.
She was welcomed into heaven by her parents and nephews, David Stiver and Tom Stiver.
Burial will take place in the Mentone Cemetery at a later date.
