MENTONE – Mentone United Methodist Church will host a day of fellowship and worship for women May 3.
“Chosen” 2025 will be 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 3.
Members of Mentone United Methodist Church went to Burne last summer for an event of fellowship, fun and worship, where Michelle Jones Adler was a guest speaker, Mentone UMC member Lee Ann Rock said.
Mentone UMC members decided they wanted to put on a day filled with singing, worship, teaching, crafts, lunch and fellowship in Mentone. The church’s education, worship and outreach teams worked together to plan the event.
Adler will be the guest speaker during “Chosen” 2025 and will speak on Esther. She previously attended Mentone UMC and is a Tippecanoe Valley High School graduate.
Esther was a young Jewish woman living in the Persian diaspora who finds favor with the king, becomes queen and risks her life to save the Jewish people from destruction when court official Haman persuades the king to authorize an organized massacre against all the Jews of the empire, according to the Jewish Women’s Archive website.
The name “Chosen” 2025 came from scripture suggesting Esther was possibly chosen for a time like that.
Adler is an amazing storyteller, Rock said. Her speech is not just not a sermon and will allow women to understand Esther’s role in the Bible better.
“It’s very fascinating the way she tells it,” Rock said.
Members of the Akron Church of God will put on music during the event. In the future, the church hopes to collaborate further with more churches in the area, Rock said.
Starting at 10:55 a.m. May 3, Fellowship Missions will hold a ministry highlight. After lunch, attendees will create blankets to donate to the organization.
“Chosen” 2025 is available to all women, not just women in Mentone or the Tippecanoe Valley area. Rock said they want to make it a day where women can come together and fellowship together, praise God and play music.
Pre-registration is required. Pre-registration and payment are due April 10. Registration including lunch is $25. Event T-shirts are $12.
Make checks payable to Mentone United Methodist Church and write Chosen 2025 in the Memo.
Registration forms are available at Egg Town Coffee, Bell Library, Teri’s This & That and area churches. Registration may be made at Mentone United Methodist Church on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. You may request a registration form by sending your name and address in an email to [email protected].
