BOURBON – Cecil I. Davenport, 77, of Bourbon, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025, in his home.
Cecil was born to Allen Roy and Gladys Mae Knepp Davenport on June 26, 1947, in Plymouth. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1966. He married Dixie Bird on April 7, 2005, and she survives. He worked as a cabinet maker for Nappanee Wood Products and retired after 20 years. He had previously worked for Mutschler Brothers Company in Bremen. He served in the United States Army from 1966 until 1972. He was a member of the Pathway Church in Warsaw. He enjoyed woodworking, taking care of his yard and birdwatching.
Cecil is survived by his wife, Dixie Davenport, of Bourbon; his sons, Jeffrey (Amy) Davenport, of Rochester; Jason (Theresa) Davenport, of Bardstown, Ky.; his stepson, Samuel Bird, of Bourbon; his stepdaughter, Deanna Rucker, of Bourbon; his grandson, Dalton Davenport; eight stepgrandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Gladys Davenport; his sisters, Naomi and Irene; and his stepson, Todd Scarberry.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 4 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Pathway Church, 2402 W. Old Road 30, Warsaw. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Sam Freds officiating. A private family burial will take place in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon, that afternoon. Military honors will be performed by Bourbon American Legion.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pathway Church, 2402 W. Old Road 30, Warsaw, IN 46580, in Cecil’s honor.
