ETNA GREEN – 3:16 Community Theatre celebrated its upcoming Easter production with a ribbon-cutting with the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce Tuesday.
Scott Gingerich, 3:16 Community Theatre Board CEO, said the theater group’s mission is based on John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
Gingerich said the production 3:16 is doing for Easter has been around for over 35 years. The theater group putting on the production has changed names periodically and has been called 3:16 Community Theatre for about five years.
They started out at a Nazarene Church in Syracuse and, from there, they grew. They were at two other churches before coming to Mount Tabor Church of God, 8424 N. CR 800W, Etna Green, last year.
The big emphasis with the theater group is their production of “The Passion” coming up around the Easter holiday and sharing the story of Jesus.
“The Passion” can be seen at 7 p.m. April 10, 11, 12 and 18, as well as 2 p.m. April 12, 13 and 19. Doors will open 30 minutes prior to the performance at Mount Tabor Church of God.
General admission tickets are $12, and children 9 years old and under are free. For tickets, go to www.buytickets.at/316.
Gingerich said the goal of the production of “The Passion” is to have attendees actually feel like they’re in Jerusalem, noting the production is very interactive. The audience will interact with cast members, so it will bring the life of Jesus and the story of the crucifixion and resurrection to life.
3:16 usually does a Christmas production as well that is a little bit more light-hearted and a way for the community to get involved in theater. The Christmas production changes year to year and will be announced later.

Warsaw Falls To Carroll In First Home Boys Volleyball Game
History was made at the Tiger Den on Tuesday night, as for the first time in school history, a boys volleyball team took the floor for a home game. One of two new IHSAA-recognized sports for the 2024-25 school year, boys volleyball made its debut in Kosciusko County as Warsaw hosted Carroll. Each game was close, but it was the Chargers that left town with a 3-0 win.
