Marian Lucille Griggs

March 24, 2025 at 6:05 p.m.

Marian Lucille Griggs, 69, of Mentone, formerly of Bourbon, passed away on March 11, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. After a lifetime of trusting Jesus, Marian had peacefully shared with her children near the end, “I’m ready to meet my Lord.”
Born on Oct. 26, 1955, in Pahokee, Fla., to Julian G. and Ruth L. Warstler Griggs, Marian graduated from Triton High School in 1974 and earned her Bachelors in Nursing from Manchester College and Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1980. She worked as a registered nurse at Parkview Hospital, Kosciusko Community Hospital, and Pilgrim Manor in Plymouth, where she was known for her exceptional care and personal connection with her patients.
A lover of music, Marian enjoyed singing and playing piano with family and her students. She sewed costumes and dresses for her children’s plays and family weddings. Her children fondly remember enjoying days at the lake as well as caring for all sorts of pets and garden plants with her. She lived to make all feel thoughtfully a part of the group through multiple hugs, cards and gifts. Marian loved sharing stories, crafts and puzzles with her family.
Marian is survived by her children: Jenny (James) Hall, of Warsaw; Justina Ravenscroft, of Nappanee; and Julian (Kathie) Ravenscroft, of Daleville; stepchildren, Paul Jr. (Stephanie) Ravenscroft, of Elkhart; and Christine (Matthew) Schultz, of Lafayette; grandchildren: Sydney, Eliza, Adelyn and Lila; and sisters, Anita (John) White, of Oregon; and Laura (Brad) Taylor, of Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gladden (Ann) Griggs.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, April 1 at Shalom Fellowship Church (formerly Mt. Pleasant Church at 5699 10th Road, Bourbon) with visitation at 4 p.m. and the service at 5 p.m. Guests are invited to wear cheery spring colors, as Marian had envisioned.
There will not be a burial and while floral arrangements are greatly appreciated, Marian would prefer memorial contributions. Memorial contributions can be made to Heifer International, which works to address food instability around the world by providing livestock and farming education.
The arrangements have been entrusted to King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone.
