Altrusa International Of Warsaw Welcomes New Members

Altrusa International of Warsaw has been busy with many projects over the last few weeks.
Papa Vino’s was host to their Feb. 20 meeting. Susan Woodward, co-vice president, presided.
Seventeen members and one guest witnessed the initiation of two new members.
Sarah Marsh, sponsored by Vicky Patterson, and Vicki Lothamer, sponsored by Donna Josellis, were welcomed into the club by Julie Hall, membership chair. “Altrusa, A Recipe for Service” was the theme of the initiation.
The service committee updated the members regarding the project independence student. Five members volunteered at Operation Read on Feb. 19, labeling and sorting nearly 500 books. Four members served a meal at Bakers Youth Club on Feb. 25.
Three members read to their Adopt-a-Class at Lincoln School and shared Valentine treats.
The Little Free Library at Fairlane Estates is being used and the need is for young adult books.
The finance committee, along with the bazaar committee gave updates on the upcoming spring bazaar to be held March 1 at Lakeview Middle School.
Mary Garret, president, presided at the March 6 meeting at Kosciusko REMC. Eighteen members were present. Beth Huffer, secretary, reviewed the minutes of the Feb. 20 meeting with members approval. The financial report was provided by Vicki Martin, co-treasurer. Details of all expenditures were explained and subsequently approved.
The service committee provided updates on projects and the need for volunteers.

Opportunities for service include Mobile Meals delivery on March 18, Operation Read on March 19 and BYC Dinner on March 25. Members will read to the children at Lincoln School and Head Start.
Julie Hall and Vicki Martin reported on the spring bazaar. Nearly 100 vendors displayed their crafts and baked items, while over 500 customers shopped.
The nominating committee presented the slate of officers for 2025-26 to the membership. The officers will begin their duties June 1.
The officers are president, Garrett; vice president, Hall; co-secretaries, Susan Woodward and Paula Shalley; co-treasurers, Vicki Martin and Jan Sloan; and director, Martie Lennane.
Altrusa International meets the first Thursday at noon at KREMC and the third Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Papa Vinos.
