SYRACUSE - Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber’s Member of the Month is The Revolving Closet.
Kelly Wedehase opened The Revolving Closet in 2003. The idea of The Revolving Closet started when Kelly was nine months pregnant, and being a single mom, consignment shopping made sense, according to a news release from the chamber. After a couple of years of researching and planning, she decided to open up shop in her hometown of Syracuse.
At one point, Kelly had three stores uptown – The Blessed Nest, Bliss Boutique and The Revolving Closet. In 2020, they had to make changes because of the shutdown and lack of workforce.
The following are interesting facts about The Revolving Closet, according to the release:
• Over 4,200 consignors.
• They put out 350-500 items every day, so inventory is constantly changing.
• They also sell new inventory including jewelry and clothing.
• Facebook page includes items for sale and frequent live broadcasts.
• Shopping local is good for the community by keeping money circulating local and it supports small town families.
• They have two floors of shopping, offering unique items and styles.
• They love their customers.
• They offer a no bag policy, which allows them to raise money for charities dear to their heart. Every time a customer brings in their own bag, or does not use one, The Revolving Closet donates $0.10 to a local charity. Don’t let that small amount fool you, last year The Revolving Closet raised over $750.
