WABASH COUNTY – A Rossville woman died after a collision with a school bus Monday on U.S. 24 in Wabash County.
Around 4 p.m. Monday, officers from the Indiana State Police, Wabash County Sheriff's Office, Miami County Sheriff's Office, Wabash City Police and Roann Town Marshal's Office responded to an injury-involved crash on U.S. 24 near CR 700W in which a Rossville woman died, according to the Indiana State Police Peru District.
The preliminary crash investigation by Master Trooper Jeremy J. Perez revealed George S. Howard, 69, Wabash, was driving a yellow 2019 Thomas school bus north on CR 700E approaching U.S. 24. The bus approached U.S. 24 and stopped south of U.S. 24. The school bus drove across U.S. 24 into the path of a gray 2011 Dodge Ram, driven by Tina J. Tague, 54, Rossville.
Tague was transported via medical helicopter to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
A front-seat passenger of the Dodge was also transported via medical helicopter with serious injuries and is in stable condition. Four children on the bus suffered minor injuries and were transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. One child on the bus suffered serious injuries and was transported via medical helicopter to an area hospital.
This is an ongoing investigation. At this time, neither the consumption of alcoholic beverages nor narcotics are suspected of contributing to this crash.
Perez was assisted by other members of the ISP, the Wabash and Miami sheriff's offices, Roann Town Marshal, Wabash City Police, Wabash Fire Department, Noble Township Volunteer Fire Department, Wabash County EMA, Wabash Fire EMS, Parkview and Lutheran medical helicopters.
