Members of Syracuse American Legion Post 223 accepted a donation of a van from Titus Funeral Home. The donation was made Thursday. Cory Benz, owner of Titus Funeral Home, explained he and his staff decided to make the donation after realizing Legion members were using their own vehicles to attend to honor guard duties or to take other Legion members to medical appointments at various VA hospitals around the state. "Sometimes veterans were going to Marion National, Anderson, Goshen," Benz said. He explained the van is a free-will donation. The van is wrapped with an American flag and the Legion seal on both the driver and passenger doors. "They do a lot of great work in the community," Tyler Huffer, funeral director for Titus, said of the Legion's members. Shown accepting the new van from Titus Funeral Home are (L to R) Dave Schwartz, Dawn Calverlage, Brooks Huffer, Diane Gustafson, Linda O'Connor, Roberta Brown, Benz, Legion Commander Carolyn Gunder, Chuck Miller, Clifford Wogoman, Doug Wells, Kristene Harris, Mark Lellane and Huffer.
