Manchester Council Votes To Replace Water Meters

NORTH MANCHESTER – At Wednesday night's meeting, Manchester Town Council awarded a $1,238,035.10 bid to Vanguard Utility Service, of Owensboro, Ky., for new water meters.
The bid includes the cost of nearly 2,000 meters plus installation.
In new business, council voted to allow Jeremy Hardy of Commonwealth Engineers to pursue funding for upcoming water and wastewater improvement projects from USDA Rural Development. The town seeks a commitment letter for $28.5 million.
Council also:
• Approved a route survey contract for the Eel River Commons, not to exceed $73,000 and sourced from Lilly grant funds, not the town's.
• Approved a construction management contract with Hagerman Construction for the Eel River Commons project.
• Approved a tax abatement compliance for Intertech Products.
• Approved on second reading an ordinance regarding behavior in public buildings.
There was a town docket of $548,467.65 and a utilities docket of $187,931.78.
Council will next meet at 7 p.m. April 2.
