KYLA Group Collecting Supplies For Joe’s Kids

By Staff Report

A group of area Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy (KYLA) members are conducting a donation drive for Joe’s Kids now through March 22.
Every year, KYLA groups of members pick a community service project to address a need they see in the community. After hearing Michelle Bikel speak about Joe’s Kids at one of their meetings, juniors Emerson Krull, Wawasee; Taelyn Tom, Wawasee; and Brooklyn Roberts, Triton, were inspired to help the program.
Joe’s Kids provides physical, occupational, speech therapy, dyslexia therapy, and tutoring services for local children to reach their full potential, according to a news release provided from the group. Often supplies are sent home with the kids they help so that they can continue to work on their skills at home.
To help the kids practice much-needed skills with their caregivers each week, the group is collecting the following items: safety scissors, construction paper, thick crayons, markers and Play Doh.
Drop boxes have been placed at the main office at Wawasee and Triton Jr./Sr. high schools; and Harvest Coffee, Milford. Monetary donations only may be dropped off at The River in Warsaw.
