Trump: The King Of Chaos

January 30, 2025 at 3:38 p.m.

Editor, Times-Union:
Trump has raced out of the starting gate attempting to put on a show of strength, like a shirtless Putin on horseback, galloping in to save us from all the brown-skinned invaders whose only crimes are fixing up our dilapidated houses, keeping our factories open and sending remittances abroad to feed their families.
Braun, Rokita and Republicans are riding posse, eager to fulfill Trump's hate-fuelled agenda. They're suing Democrats and law enforcement in municipalities who aren't willing to waste their valuable time and resources to prop up Trump's ego.
The end result of all their bravado will have the opposite effect. Creating fear of law enforcement in entire communities will not make us any safer than flooding our streets with permitless concealed guns.
For all Republicans’ claims about immigrant crime, the biggest criminal I see is their sex-abuser, election-denying, financial fraudster president. How is it Republicans are willing to forgive Trump's self-serving lies and crimes, but are not willing to forgive someone who came here intent on working hard and supporting their family?
Without a real plan, Republicans need an imaginary enemy to scare people into voting for them. Immigrants, transexuals, diversity. Will they be coming for you next?
With a flurry of executive orders Trump is showing us the king of chaos is back with a vengeance. Hold onto your 401Ks because the markets hate chaos, and chaos is all Trump knows. Yes, Biden was boring, and the stock market rewarded him handsomely.
You may be struggling at home, but it should give you comfort that Trump is focused on buying Greenland and taking us out of the Paris climate accord. He'll make (and then lose) billions riding high on a sketchy crypto deal, while you dig deep to pay for a dozen eggs.
It's only been a couple weeks, but many are already realizing they picked the wrong horse in the race.
