Larry Lee Kelly, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on Oct. 24, 2024, in Huntsville, Ala., at the age of 83. He was born on July 8, 1941, in Leesburg, to Russel Kelly and Layretta Ransbottom Kelly.
Larry was a graduate of Warsaw (Indiana) High School, Class of 1959. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, working as a hydraulic metalsmith on the Bonhomme Richard aircraft carrier and as an aviation anti-submarine warfare technician. After his service, he built a successful career in the elevator industry, where his meticulous work and dedication earned him the respect of his colleagues. His ingenuity led to his securing a U.S. patent in 1981.
In his personal life, Larry was a man of many talents and interests. A skilled woodworker, he was a past president of the Shasta Woodworkers Club, where he shared his craft and inspired others. A fisherman and private pilot, Larry had a spirit of adventure, qualities that enriched his life and those of his loved ones. He was also a dedicated church elder at two churches in California.
Larry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda Adamson Kelly; his daughters and their husbands, Kathy and Rusty Scott Miskovish and Barbara and Chris Natale; his grandchildren: Amanda and Jessica Miskovish, and Christopher and Anthony Natale; siblings, Richard Kelly and Louise Dunnuck; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be remembered by all who knew him.
Larry’s life was honored in a private gathering in Huntsville, Ala. Burial will be in Northern California Veterans Cemetery, 11800 Gas Point Road, Igo, Calif., on Feb. 7 at 9:30 a.m. A celebration of life service will be Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. at Westside Church, 8780 Swasey Drive, Redding, Calif.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Larry's memory to a charity of your choice.
