Calf, Hay & Equipment Lost In Barn Fire

A calf being nursed back to health was a casualty in the Wednesday morning barn fire on 8 Square Road, Warsaw.
According to Plain Township (Leesburg) Fire Department Chief Derek Tenney, the fire department got called out to the barn fire at 2169 E. 8 Square Road, Warsaw, at 8:40 a.m. They remained on scene for about 3-1/2 hours.
In the barn at the time of the fire was hay, equipment and a calf that had been injured. The calf had been brought inside the barn to be nursed back to health, but perished in the fire, Tenney explained.
No other injuries to animals or humans were reported.
Tenney said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Fire departments from Warsaw and Milford provided manpower and tankers. Tippecanoe Township (North Webster) also provided a tanker. About 25 fire personnel were on hand at the fire.
